They owned the property since before the existence of the
United States.

That still is a nice $390,000 check from Uncle Sugar...They're only seizing around 7 acres, which is a little over $10K.
And for that you get a wall through your property cutting part of it off from the river.

I don’t know. But they got it. Maybe they’ll build a welcome facility.

They won an easement to place the wall along the border. They didn’t take the whole ranch. IF Biden puts up puts up the wall, it will make the ranch a safer place.
This is normal and perfectly reasonable.

The government still wanted that land condemned. The Cavazos family and their attorneys had hoped the 46th president would stand by his August 2020 words and stop fighting in court for Trump’s border wall. But Biden didn’t do that. The lawsuits were not withdrawn. Suckers!.............................

Citing the government’s need for “urgency of possession,” the district court held that the Biden administration “is entitled to immediate possession of the Subject Property.” Oh, and how does a case that's been languishing since the Bush administration suddenly have "urgency" of possession after at least a decade after being filed?

Actually Trump is going to need that land in 2025.
Good ruling.

How did Biden get this case through the courts so fast?
He has only been in office for 100 days and usually court cases take years to make their way through trial and a decision.

Maybe they’ll build a welcome facility. Yours is the most likely answer. Welcome facilities, complete with cold water, toilets, free food, hotel rooms and clothing. And Democrat party pamphlets in Spanish.

I won’t get played by people on the border who want to use their land as a highway for Illegal Immigration, so I’m PERFECTLY HAPPY to see that as federal land, and hopefully we can seal it off now.

Just reading some posts on the source site it looks like maybe bad journalism. Maybe they seized just enough for an easement to build the wall. Maybe they only needed 77 acres of the whole amount. It may be cutting off land across the river on the Mexican side. If the land straddles the river, a wall could make the Mexican land useless.
There is much we don't know for sure. If it's to build the wall, GREAT! But I doubt very seriously if it will amount to 6500 acres.

Maybe they only needed 77 acres of the whole amount.According to the WAPO the entire ranch is down to 77 acres and the government can seize 6.6 acres of that - just enough to complete the wall.

Good grief!
That means this is a fake news headline...
An easement of less than 4% of the property against the property owner to build the wall seems justified...
IMHO...
