During an interview with CNN on Thursday, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said that he supports President Joe Biden’s executive orders on guns, but cannot support the House’s background check bill as it currently stands.
Manchin said, “I support what the president did today, from what I heard, okay, what he’s doing on executive order. Now, there [are] an awful lot of things that he talked about, but the executive order says ghost guns should not be allowed to be legally made or sold or used. It’s illegal. Because they’re making them off of printers and you can’t detect them.”

Folks in WV will not like this one bit. Manchin is slowly exposing himself that he is willing to be a socialist, but just a bit slower than rest of the Democrat party and Assistant Democrats (AKA, Republicans).
That is not what the E.O. said about "ghost guns." It said that he is directing the ATF to promulgate rules regarding 80% completed receivers. My guess is to codify through the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking process a rule that prohibits selling an 80% frame and all of the parts required to complete the firearm in the same package.
ATF raided Polymer80, Brownells, and a few other retailers a few weeks ago looking to confiscate Polymer80's "Buy, Build, Shoot" kits that had a Glock 80% lower, the jig and bits required to complete the frame, plus a slide, barrel, springs, and fire control group necessary to complete the handgun.

So-called ghost guns are NOT illegal under federal law, period - nor CAN they be. You are allowed to make your own firearms, and the 2nd Amendment prohibits the government from infringement of that right. Many in the Founding Generation made their own firearms, as did millions since that time, up to today - if anyone wants a tangible example of a long-standing right, this is it. Selling such a firearm into the stream of commerce, especially across state lines, MAY be a different matter.
