Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and husband of Queen Elizabeth II, has died at age 99, the royal family announced Friday.
Philip and the queen were married for more than 70 years, making him the longest-serving spouse of a reigning British monarch. He was the oldest-ever male member of the British royal family.
Philip was born on the Greek island of Corfu on June 10, 1921, to Prince Andrew of Greece and Princess Alice of Battenberg.

He was an old bird who loved to play little jokes on the queen. There is one pic of him in a Beefeater’s uniform standing at attention when Elizabeth walks by. She doesn’t notice him at first and the burst out in giggles when she does.

Naw, she's with child, way too dangerous to fly on a private jet in these Covid times. Harry will have to go it alone. Unfortunately he's way to stupid to just stay in England once there and tell Meghan he's through with her.
He was a man of his time. . .and a gentleman at that. Tough to live your life in the shadow of a beloved Queen.
Great sense of humor. I met him in London at a formal event.
As we and about a dozen others were waiting to be escorted to the head table, he asked me: “Do you know why Bill Clinton wears underpants?” I was not expecting that question and answered “no.” He replied; “But of course, to keep his ankles warm!” He then broke out in an upper-class accented laugh. We got along great!!
