Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) responded defiantly Friday to President Joe Biden’s presidential address in which the president suggested that the United States may have to reinstate lockdown measures ostensibly to mitigate coronavirus infections.
“Biden last night said that they may have to impose more lockdown-type policies in the future. I can tell ya: that ain’t happening in Florida,” DeSantis stated. “We are not going to let him lockdown Florida.”

I have no idea what ‘polling’ shows. But, listening to my twentysomething kids and their friends - a diverse group of people - DeSantis is building a tremendous amount of good will among young voters. They get it. The kids in MIA and FLL understand that it was DeSantis that allowed them to regain some sanity by opening up when California and NY were - and still are - buttoned up.
Watching their Instagram & Twitter feeds evolve over the last eight months has really been eye-opening. They (not my kids, but many of their friends)have matured from mushy-minded progressives to people who appreciate liberty and independence and a healthy dose of skepticism about the role of government in everyone’s lives has been reintroduced.
I don’t know if that’s happening in other states, but it’s definitely happening in FL.

Go DeSantis! There’s a Karen brigade here that hates him and has locked themselves down and wants to do it to the rest of us, but he’s been good at resisting. I think if Biden tries to do something like this, most Floridians would be out in the streets to support De Santis.

If Trump was as popular as thought then the election could not have been stolen without obvious fakery, if it was. The contest was too close regardless.

President Trump was/is/will the GEPOTUS of my lifetime—and I’m headed toward my 61st birthday May 29.
I had to vote for the Gipper just to get Peanut out and to keep Peanut’s Veep out as well. No enthusiasm whatsoever.
I realize President Trump’s age isn’t exactly an asset, but I just cannot accept that he will forever be denied his second term.
I sorely miss his voice, his tweets and his awesome leadership qualities.
Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kayleigh McEnany had the distinct honor of speaking on his behalf and conveying his America First agenda, etc.
That’s a far cry from what Psaki is now dealing with, trying to make sense of how Biden is undermining our country and literally destroying it each day.
I remember cringing when Trump praised Newsom while criticizing Kemp, but don’t remember him coming out publicly against FL. DeSantis has been the only one with acspine throughout this whole mess.

Well he probably has Disney and Universal Studios behind him because they need Ctrl FL to function. The tourism industry is losing their asses right now and that’s Florida’s #1 source of revenue. Incarceration and traffic violations is #2. Gotta keep those streets clean for the tourists. Ctrl FL cops are proactive and aggressive, despite Florida Man.
The election occurred during a pandemic and economic decline that would have destroyed most incumbent presidents. It’s amazing that Trump was still in the running, considering how much the media and the Dems did to use the pandemic as a cudgel to beat him. If the election were held in Nov. 2019 during the height of Trump’s economic boom, he would have won easily and without question even with Dems changing the election rules to help themselves and their outright cheating.
Trump’s the best president in my lifetime. I liked Amnesty Ron Reagan too, but Trump surpassed him. At any rate, he revived the Reagan revolution that the Bushes, McCain, and Romney derailed.

Reagan ended at that age, not start. And they complained about that!
Reagan actually accomplished more partly due to his amiable character (as well as moral character) OT1H, and his resolve to hold the line OTOH. People loved him and the enemy was totally disarmed by him. They had to admit he was unassailable and too likable. He couldn’t be beaten.
Reagan had actual landslides both times. Trump was too close to really overwhelm even if he won a second.
