FBI Director Christopher Wray on Tuesday refused to tell senators the cause of death for Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, whose death heavily influenced coverage of the Capitol riot.
Reports after Jan. 6 originally said Sicknick died after being bludgeoned by a fire extinguisher while fighting off then-President Donald Trump’s supporters, which authorities didn’t deny at the time. The claim became part of the impeachment trial case against Trump for allegedly inciting the riot — though his family now says it’s untrue.
Wray cited an “ongoing” investigation into Sicknick’s death.
“I certainly understand and respect and appreciate the keen interest in what happened to him — after all, he was here protecting all of you. And as soon as there is information that we can appropriately share, we want to be able to do that. But at the moment, the investigation is still ongoing,” Wray said at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) asked if that meant the FBI “have not determined” the cause of Sicknick’s death.
“That means we can’t yet disclose a cause of death at this stage,” Wray said.
Grassley pressed on, asking Wray to confirm whether the FBI has determined a cause of death.
“I didn’t say that. We’re not at a point where we can disclose or confirm the cause of death,” Wray said.
Sicknick’s cremated remains had the rare distinction of lying in honor last month in the Capitol Rotunda.
Recent news reports say the FBI believes that a capsaicin-based “bear spray” may have caused Sicknick’s death, though those reports also have not been confirmed on the record by authorities.
The officer’s mother said in a recent interview that the family also remained in the dark, though they believed that being bludgeoned was not the cause of death.

Both reporting the day of and the family said he died of a stroke.
Christopher Wray should be told to answer the question or he should be fired immediately. It has been almost 2 months since he died. There are autopsy results and testimony of the people around him. It is beginning to seem as though the FBI is covering up something. He knows by now how he died but will not say.
What difference does it make what info Wray does or doesn’t do? If he wants to lie, he will; it’s his default.
But Trump had ample opportunity to clean these people out of government. Also, Trump has not offered any explination as to why he did not.
Agree. If Trump thinks he can breezily move on to GOTV for 2022 he is sadly mistaken. My family has exactly zero interest in voting GOP in 2022. There must be an accounting of Trump’s 4 years in the WH and the GOP’s full role in the coup.

Oh BTW, the FBI director Wray is as corrupt as Barr, Biden, Hillary, heck name anyone of them and he is as corrupt as they are.
Trying to delay telling the truth just as long as he can. It was a scam from the beginning and he knows it, but his Democrat controllers will not let him tell the truth.
The only thing that takes this long is the toxicology.
Wray is an unelected bureaucrat accountable to no one.

The were two different Capitol police officers who committed suicide almost immediately after the Jan 6 incident. I have read that there are now 30 Capitol police who have been suspended, including 6 of them fired, for allowing people to enter the Capitol. These 30 plus the 2 suicides indicate some collusion on the part of the Capitol Police or perhaps they were just behaving as foolishly as were most of theTrump supporters who went inside.

Wray also warned white Supremacists have committed “most lethal attacks over the last decade”. And said arrests of racially motivated violent extremism nearly tripled from 2017, when he became fbi director, to last year

Wray frickin’ knows, the man was cremated, not like they can further investigate his body. Can’t put it out there publicly that he had nothing to do with anyone inside the Capitol, must keep the lie going about evil, murderous Trump supporters.
And two committed suicide, one on January 10th, and the other on January 26 or 27th. We'll never know why either.
