Radical Gun Control Bill Introduced in the House

With Joe Biden, a strong advocate of strict gun control, in the White House, Democrats are hoping to enact radical gun control legislation that would eviscerate the Second Amendment. On January 4, 2021, the day after the swearing in of the new Congress, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee introduced a bill (H.R. 127) entitled the "Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act.” Her bill is named after a Pakistani exchange student who was killed in a mass shooting at a Texas school in 2018. The bill would require the federal licensing of firearm and ammunition possession under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Attorney General, establish a national firearm registry, and prohibit the possession of certain ammunition.

With the Dems having both houses and the White House?????

This isn’t useless. They’ll get it passed if/when they want.

2 I think they’re waiting for a mass shooting to take action on this bill.

15 they want cwii to begin in earnest

18 It’s already begun - we’re in the phase before it goes hot.

The 2nd Amendment defenders in VA put up a big show of opposition to Gov. "Baby Killer" in JAN 2020. The DemonRats in the statehouse quickly passed at least 8 gun control bills.

They can pass whatever they want - who has the guts to attempt enforcement of an unconstitutional edict?

In before the first boating accident post. That’s how I lost my guns.

A nightmare scenario would be to weaponize the IRS to levy financial penalties on those determined to be in non-compliance with registration. Few could withstand that level of financial pressure. In a nation without the rule of law one could envision the state putting the burden of proof of non-ownership on the citizen. "I lost my gun in a boating accident" would not be acceptable. You could be put on a list for a stay at a re-education camp. LEOs (law enforcement officers) would not have to endure the high risk of executing "no knock" searches/ confiscations. Of course, the state could still order such raids on high profile citizens suspected of non-compliance to make examples of them to intimidate the sheeple. It is not too far-fetched to imagine the DemonRat socialists doxxing these private citizens and making that information available to BLM and AntiFa so they could administer rough/ street justice.

The fake “science” of psychology has long been intended to be a hook for totalitarianism since it’s as malleable as hot lead.

When and where to the Democrats practice for that annual softball game.

And for all of the FBI and SS agents keeping tabs on radical Freepers, agents I am joking.

You must believe everyone is a lone wolf, with no intel sources, no support group and no will to fight back. BLM & the antifa wimps wouldn’t last 36 hours in my state.

So the "Attorney General" is now the chief medical/mental health officer as well.

The very same AG-nominee Merrick Garland who last week testified in approval hearings that the 2020 AntiFa/ BLM riots were conducted at night and therefore not to be considered as insurrections while the 1/06/2021 protest at the U.S. Capitol was done during daylight hours and was an act of insurrection.

If there is any issue that at least a few Dems are shaky on, it’s radical gun control. With a bare majority in the Senate and a small majority in the House, it’s a tough row to hoe getting this passed.

And you don’t think the usual R turncoats in the Senate wouldn’t cave? They’ll go nuclear in the Senate to ram this through, and the majority in the House is more than enough to get it passed.

It has long been settled law that a law which violates the constitution is void, from it's inception, and is as if it was never written. This is a bedrock principle of American law, and has been since the founding of this country. In light of the Heller decision, any gun control law will face strict scrutiny.

“A law repugnant to the Constitution is void. An act of Congress repugnant to the Constitution cannot become a law. The Constitution supersedes all other laws and the individual’s rights shall be liberally enforced in favor of him, the clearly intended and expressly designated beneficiary.” –Marbury v. Madison, 5 U.S. 137 (1803)

“An unconstitutional law is void and is as no law. An offense created by it is not crime. A conviction under it is not merely erroneous but isillegal and void and cannot be used as a legal cause of imprisonment.” – Ex parte Siebold, 100 U.S. 371 (1879)

“An unconstitutional act is not law. It confers no rights; it imposes no duties; affords no protection; it creates no office. It is, in legal contemplation, as inoperative as though it had never been passed.” – Norton v. Shelby County, 118 U.S. 425 (1886)

“Where rights secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no rule-making or legislation which would abrogate them.” –Miranda v. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436 (1966)

Not at all. I am simply looking down the road at likely oppressive scenarios the DemonRats might activate. One could imagine a "1984" scenario where "Big Brother" would implement a reward system for informers to report on their neighbors who might possess firearms. Afterall, our FBI has devolved into the old East German STASI/ Ministry for State Security.

The clock is clicking towards a 1990s Yugoslavia-style civil war. Sadly, I don't think most folks have considered the preparations they will need to resist Fedzilla. And the hour is late.

I’d support all that if they also applied it to voting.

Kevin Stitt has gotten a lot of crap wrong here in Ok, just ask our Native American population. One thing that he did get right was passing Constitutional Carry. Of course the next gov will probably reverse it.

Reloading equipment is something that I have kind of been putting off, but I see it as a necessity now.

Only if the Secret Service, the armed forces, and all police disarm first, and even not then!

Remember, they are not coming for the guns and ammo, they are coming for your family!

Thank you for your scholarly reply. And I used to agree with you, but we are no longer living under the "rule of settled law" since the SCOTUS refused to hear the Texas case against the 2020 stolen election. Chief Justice Roberts and associate justices Comer, Goresuch, and Kavenaugh have revealed that they cannot be depended upon to defend the Constitution.

The 2nd impeachment trial of POTUS #45 DJT revealed 7 GOPe RINOs who voted for conviction. Yes, many of them have been censured by GOP committees in their home states, but when push comes to shove, I expect some of them might well vote for SJL's bill.

>>There ought to be a harsh penalty for introducing useless legislation that wastes time. That’d shut them up for a bit!

Perhaps reinstating one of Zeleucus’ laws should be considered.
Anyone who proposed a new law, or the alteration of one already existing, had to appear before the Citizen’s Council with a rope round his neck. If the Council voted against the proposal the proposer was immediately strangled.

THAT is the great unknown. Will GOP governors unite and oppose Fedzilla on SJL's bill should it pass? You can count out the current GOP governors in AL & GA.
