Mayor Jim Kenney (D) is responding to Philadelphia’s surge in gun violence by pushing for more gun control laws.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports “294 people” have already been shot in Philadelphia this year, with 76 individuals dying.
Kenney blames the violence on what he views as a lack of gun control.
He said, “We must stop the unabated flow of guns into our city.”
Kenney is interested in laws requiring stolen guns to be reported within a set period of time, licensing requirements for gun owners, and limits on the number of guns Philadelphia residents can purchase.
He claimed such laws are “commonplace” elsewhere and “do not violate the Second Amendment.”
Kenney has taken this approach to gun violence before, calling for more gun control as a solution.
USA Today noted Kenney pushed for more gun control after Maurice Hill allegedly opened fire on Philadelphia police on August 13, 2019. Police were serving a narcotics warrant when Hill allegedly began shooting.
Kenney pushed for more gun control, saying, “Our officers deserve to be protected and they don’t deserve to be shot at by a guy, for hours, with an unlimited supply of weapons and an unlimited supply of bullets. It’s disgusting. And we’ve got to do something about it.”
Delaware Online noted Hill was “a convicted felon with a lengthy criminal record.” Felons are already barred from firearm possession, yet Kenney pushed for more gun control.

As the saying goes, gun control is a good sight picture and a smooth trigger pull.
Mayor has to ask Emperor Bidenius to set up TSA airport security search and frisk stations to check all coming into and leaving the city of brotherly love.
How will that stop shootings? Oh, because there are words on a piece of paper stating so?
By all means, gather thousands and thousands of social workers and community organizers and go door-to-door in the city, taking every gun not registered.
And good luck with that!
Maybe they need more criminal control.

The new woke idea would be to PAY criminals not to commit violent crimes with guns. And when they do commit gun violence, do you pay them more? Will they be paid per bullet not fired, or victim not killed? How many innocent people did you choose not to kill today? How many guilty ones escaped? Will they pay criminals a bounty for every MAGA hat they return containing a scalp?
Anyone can see that this proposal was not made by a sane adult. Kinda of the trouble with the entire Democrat Party.

He lies. They deliberately allowed the inner city street savages to kill each other so they could proclaim a “crisis.” As we all know, politicians gin up crises to take away our rights.
They plan to take guns from non-violent people and leave them in the hands of violent criminals. So the problem won’t be solved, and they can step up the confiscation of guns from the honest, law-abiding, non-violent people.
Checkpoints at city limits on all roads leading into the city. Totally inspect all vehicles entering so that there is no place left to hide a bullet. That’ll do it. Of course it will take an increase of police personnel, even if the city streets have no more policemen on them.

Philly required the removal of protective glass in convenience stores -- coz racism -- then probably required the barriers back up due to Plannedemic -- just bring back the protective glass. Oh, and STFU. And resign.

How come when a cop shoots a criminal it’s blamed on the cop? When some thug shoots another thug it’s the gun that’s at fault?
