Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that if the Republican Party continued to “idolize” former President Donald Trump, they would lose elections.
Cassidy said, “We’ve got to win in two years. We’ve got to win in four years. If we do that, we’ll do that by speaking to those issues important to the American people, and there’s a lot of issues important to them right now, not by putting one person on a pedestal and making that one person our focal point. If we speak to those issues, to those families, to those individuals, we win. That’s where our focus should be.”
He continued, “CPAC is not the entirety of the Republican party. That’s number one. Number two, political organizations and campaigns are about winning. Over the last four years, we lost the House of Representatives, the Senate and the presidency. That has not happened in a single four years under a president since Herbert Hoover. If we plan to win in 2022 and 2024, we have to listen to the voters. Not just those who really like President Trump, but also those who perhaps are less sure. If we do, if we speak to the voters who are less sure who went from President Trump to President Biden, we win. If we don’t, we lose. That is a reality that we have to confront.”

You are correct!
He’s right. Time to move forward with some fresh faces. Maybe DeSantis, Hawley or somebody else. Won’t have any success groveling about the past. McConnell too needs to fade away.
They fail to realize Trump win the election. Who are the dems gonna run in 2024. I don’t think they can steal another one. By then elections should be more closely watched and more and more of the truth will be known by all soon.
you’re proving my point.
Actually I agree with him in principle. Conservatism is about ideals. Blindly following any one person becomes a cult of personality. Personalities are by nature trendy and easy targets, ideals should be unwavering and stand the test of time.
He may never get reelected, but the problem is he still has almost 6 years left on his current term.
It’s not about Trump. It’s about the aggressive conservative populism that won’t back down to the media or the left.
Trump wasn’t perfect. I disagreed with some of his policies and wish he’d been a bit more conservative with signing budgets, but he fought back instead of rolling over.
That’s the new breed of conservative, and it scares the left so bad they’ve labeled us all white supremacists and nazis in a desperate attempt to stop the movement.
Our ideas win. They know it. That’s why they lie, cheat, and steal to stop us.
Trump just broke the dam. He’s not the movement. He was the champion, now others will step up.
I didn’t say any of that. but I’m pretty sure you knew that.
what a creepy looking swamp creature. Maybe he’d afraid of Ghislane’s “Black Book” exposing the possibility that he was on pedo island...
He's been in both the LA House and Senate longer than Trump was around. He's known as "the doctor." That's what gets him the votes - even from democrats.
eeerily similar
Wait for Trump’s speech at CPAC this afternoon. The Never-Trumpers will have to fish or cut bait. Donald trump is taking over the Republican Party - all of it. I predict many Independents will change to Republican when they see his platform - his vision for America.
Go away.
They still don’t get it. It is about the MAGA agenda and not one man.
Dumbass...we don’t IDOLIZE anyone except THE LORD....you are TOO MUCH LIKE A DEMOCRAT to be listened to.
I have seen more than my share of doctors over the years and there are some I would not support for gator catcher, bless their hearts. Being a dr does not make anyone intelligent. Then there are those who are great.
You don't get it. Go the F away.
“Over the last four years, we lost the House of Representatives, the Senate and the presidency. That has not happened in a single four years under a president since Herbert Hoover.”
Yes because over half of the GOP was in bed with the democrats. Add the deep state, vote tally issues and MSM to the mix and you get the toxic brew that “defeated” President Trump.
1. He’s not a politician.
2. He has an outstanding track record AS PRESIDENT that one of these other contenders has.
Sorry — NONE of those other contenders has.
