Nothing seems to scare the establishment more than a return to 'normal'. And by 'normal', we mean a return to an environment outside of the tyrannical control of career politicians and bureaucrats who have got a taste for this 'being king' stuff and know that anyone who questions their edicts will be 'canceled' by their Covidian cultists.
So, a week after Johns Hopkins surgeon, Dr. Marty Makary, penned an Op-ed in the WSJ saying that we will have herd immunity by April... and was instantly disavowed as 'dangerous', some awkward 'facts' and 'science' have been dropped by none other than FundStrat's Tom Lee.
"...cumulatively and slowly, the US is seeing more states reach that combined level of vaccinations + infections approach what is seen as herd immunity.”
So far, South Dakota, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Arizona, Oklahoma, Utah, and Tennessee are the nearest.
Lee's "math" - which we also know is racist - appears to fit with Makary's arguments for why the recent plunge in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths is not policy-related (no matter how much the politicians and their media lackeys push that narrative):
"...the consistent and rapid decline in daily cases since Jan. 8 can be explained only by natural immunity. Behavior didn’t suddenly improve over the holidays; Americans traveled more over Christmas than they had since March. Vaccines also don’t explain the steep decline in January. Vaccination rates were low and they take weeks to kick in."
"Experts should level with the public about the good news..." exclaims Makary, and this data on imminent herd immunity puts more pressure on Fauci and Biden to come clean... despite their variant-fearmongering and "no return to normal until Christmas or beyond" predictions.
But of course, this reality may never be allowed in the national narrative, as Makary previously concluded:
"Some medical experts privately agreed with my prediction that there may be very little Covid-19 by April but suggested that I not to talk publicly about herd immunity because people might become complacent and fail to take precautions or might decline the vaccine. But scientists shouldn’t try to manipulate the public by hiding the truth. As we encourage everyone to get a vaccine, we also need to reopen schools and society to limit the damage of closures and prolonged isolation. Contingency planning for an open economy by April can deliver hope to those in despair and to those who have made large personal sacrifices."

You’ve been proven wrong on many occasions over the past year. But you just can’t stop. You really want this thing to continue, don’t you.
Antibody studies have shown 3-6x as many as cases, there have been dozens and dozens of studies on this - simply duckduckgo or google it, and that doesn’t even include people that have some immunity or resistance from other coronaviruses. Your second point is definitely valid. Herd immunity with virtually no transmission probably is 70 or 80%, but at 60%, your R0 drops well below 1, which means it is going to burn out quickly, hence why the WSJ suggests by the end of April.

Tennessee's cases are fallling and it's welcomed. But this seems like they assumed the fall must be due to herd immunity and backed into a model to try to prove it.
I'm not sure what else it could be due to. Flu cases tend to peak in January and then fall off. Covid might also, but it sure didn't seem to peak last January. One possibility is 15% detected cases Plus 11% vaccinated = 25% Protected. And the rest of us are taking enough precautions that 25% + precautions = herd immunity.
I've been able to hermit this past year. So I'm in the 75% unprotected. But maybe only 40% of us are active enough to have a high risk of getting it, and 25% of us are protected.
So 25%/40% = 62.5% of active people protected.
I hope their model is correct and mine is wrong. But mine which I literally threw together implies there is a risk of resurgence once behavior patterns change.
Buddy of mine had it. He had a fever of 99 and sinus issues. That was it. He only went to get tested so if he really had it he could get paid to sit his ass at home for two weeks during his quarantine.
How many other people get it with similar symptoms and never get tested because it's so mild?

It’s very weird. Every time Fauci comes out with another insane “moving the goalpost,” they love it and absolutely glow when they talk about it. I live in Florida, and I saw an older friend who was desperate to get the vaccine, and got her second one about two weeks ago. But when I saw her, she was wearing a new huge, heavy mask. I thought it would be rude to ask her why, but she obviously saw my surprise, and she said, “well, Dr. Fauci says we may need a third shot.”
Total insanity. But what’s worse is that it’s not this woman who’s brainwashing herself, it’s her 40ish children and younger grandchildren, who live in the Northeast and, as she said, “pitched a fit” when they found out that she had been going out and living a normal life. So now she’s not.
What are we going to do to de-brainwash these people?

Two months ago, the CDC estimated 2-4 times the number of confirmed cases.
However, as the number of confirmed cases increases, the multiple should come down, so 4X may be too high, two months after the original estimate.

As I have often posted, protect those of age and comorbities. Let the disease go through the rest of the younger population that is at very small risk and we achieve herd immunity.
Our handling of this disease was medical insanity driven by politics. Unfortunately the bad guys won.

We went to a hunt club meeting last Saturday night. Not a mask in sight, all of us eating family-style, (sharing platters of food) crowded in a bar, laughing, smiling, talking - up close, because it was noisy. Shifts every 30 minutes or so of groups of snowmobile riders stopping in to warm up and have a beer; I was probably ‘exposed’ to 100 people I’ve never seen before in my life, and 25 that I knew - but haven’t seen in a year!
I thought I had been transported back to 2019! It was simply amazing. :)
Oh, and it’s been a full week now, so if I were to ‘come down with something’ I’m sure we’d both have symptoms by now. I was more worried about catching an everyday COLD, versus anything worse.
