AUSTIN (KXAN) — Thousands of people who live in Austin are without water Thursday, and there has been no word from the City of Austin when the water might return.
KXAN reached out to Austin Water multiple times ahead of the city’s planned 2 p.m. news conference looking for answers but still has not heard back.
Austin Water tweeted about the issue around 9:30 a.m. but still has not said when it might be able to resume water service to those areas affected.

If one main breaks, that’s where the water goes.
Not multiple.
Are you having fun?
All those from CA who moved to Texas are now without heat, are freezing and without water?
Hmmmm.
I know.
I’ve experienced frozen pipes. Many times. I was raised in the Midwest.
I’ve never had a flood.
The vast majority of people will be just fine.
There is plenty of information on the ‘net for those who are frightened.
No, that's when the bursting becomes apparent!
They need more of those Wind thingies.
They need more of those Wind thingies.
When they thaw, be ready to shut the water off or you’ll have Niagara fall running through your ceiling. And watch those toilet tanks if they froze.
Is this going to be one of those back slap news conferences where all the politicians and so called city officials all stand around and complement each other?
I know that. I was just trying to calm the original poster. It sounds as if he/she is panicking from the media coverage.
Gee. Come to think of it, I wonder why the media would want people to think everything is going to scary hell in Texas? Guessing they'll probably get on those terrifying shark sightings in Florida any time now.
Followed by the bear attacks in South Dakota.
Yep. There’s plenty of good info on the ‘net for those affected.
It’s not the media, it’s the police scanner and city emails that are getting real bad. If you’re not in it, you don’t know what’s going on.
Just take the precautions they are I’m sure informing you about.
This happens when children are in charge.
Get used to it!
Do a internet search what to do.
Turn off the water..even if its already frozen.
I left Monday, I don’t know if I can get back until Saturday or Sunday. If it starts flowing I have security cams that might pick it up and get over there to turn it off. Calling 911 is pretty hopeless at this point, 8 hour waits.
You mean the biggest whackers?
We aren’t IN Austin. We are out in the suburbs. But our water needs to be boiled now. Power went off and on. We are not Woke, we are Republicans. We moved here very recently. Hoping to take it back to RED
The UBER liberal Austin has problems?
Oh well.
Is there anything else going on?
You mean the bird whackers?
You were raised in a place where people were prepared for cold weather so odds are that even if you did have a pipe freeze it would be at the junction where the pipe passes from the inside of the house to the outside, and you had plumbers who could tell where the break was just by the sound. These people are totally unprepared.
Frozen pipes were never a problem in New Hampshire either where we lived.
