You were raised in a place where people were prepared for cold weather so odds are that even if you did have a pipe freeze it would be at the junction where the pipe passes from the inside of the house to the outside, and you had plumbers who could tell where the break was just by the sound. These people are totally unprepared.
Frozen pipes were never a problem in New Hampshire either where we lived.
Yeah. I wasn’t meaning to be flip about it. I know the original poster was really concerned. Those of us in America’s Icebox are pretty much used to it.
