I would tell them that the people who will scream the loudest about some phony contrived “scandal” would never, ever have voted for you in the first place. Just like those who turned blue and hysterical over Trumps 3,897 similar MSM/DNC/LEFTISTS contrived “scandals”.

Those that value GOD, FAMILY, GOVERNMENT in that order will commend you for putting time with your children first, instead of putting some phony virtue signaling show for government first.

😄😄😄😄

It’s politics not afternoon tea. It gets ugly. Grow up. Trump said lots of nasty things to a lot of people.
Trump stabbed people in the back. It’s politics.
I voted for Trump twice. Will do so again if able. But let’s stop pretend his morals are untouchable.
And only Trump meets the standards of the FR Purity Board.
What BS.

There’s plenty of things to find fault with Cruz, but this seems overblown.

I guess they want ol' Ted to be up there on the windmills chipping off the ice.

So you would tell someone that a good strategy would be to jet off to Cancun if you are trying to get elected to House or Senate?

What does Ted Cruz have to do with the energy grid in Texas? The commentary on this thread is exactly why conservatives can’t seem to get anything done. I expect the media to write this kind of story, but to actually think it reflects on Ted Cruz in any way is really stupid.

Real civics are not taught any more. Like every other important knowledge.

U S. SENATORS does NOT CONTROL individual STATE AFFAIRS. Sheesh.

Imagine if President Trump had all these hysterical concern trolls advising him through the 3,897 similar MSM/DNC/LEFTISTS contrived “scandals” he went though?

Not chopping ice but I wish that he and others were working hard to get the election steal exposed and the guilty punished.

Why aren't any Republicans working on that? Why is it not important anymore?

Hey, he’s reducing the load on the underpowered TX power supply by four consumers.

We all knew this vacation would come back to bite him. If he were here, he’d be using precious electricity to good for him for leaving the state.

Again, I don’t feel all that strongly about this one way or another and clearly some do. That is okay by me. I acknowledge that it is bad optics.

However, beginning with Katrina, there has been a massive “overresponse” by DC to every storm. This storm, while rare, is not an impossibility so my argument is “how/why is this the responsibility of congress to “fix”? The only fix they ever offer is to spend our money and much of those expenditures go to questionable stuff.

I like Texas as someone who does not live there. A lot. However, this was NOT a failure of congress or a Senator. This situation was created by a lack of preparation or planning for such a rare event by utilities and state officials. Without prior planning and infrastructure, no amount of finger pointing during the event will fix the circumstances in which people find themselves.

FEMA was supposed to be a checkbook to come in and help local communities and states with “disasters”. The expectations that congress and Uncle Sam will act as a first responder and come in and take over everything dropping checks all over the place is not a good thing in my humble opinion. Let those on the ground work through it and offer support as needed.

There will be plenty of naval gazing after this and hopefully some lessons and changes come out of it to prevent it in the future, but while I concede the point that it is bad optics politically for Cruz, in my personal experience as a “first responder” to natural disasters the dignitaries only get in the way, clog traffic, and take resources away from helping people for photo ops.

I guess reading this thread it is obvious Cruz should have gotten some photo ops here handing out blankets and water bottles. I am not really trying to “defend” Cruz. I just find such gestures an impediment to the response - not a help. I also find the Pavlovian response of congress to rush out and throw money at stuff to be corrosive to our constitution (and deficits).

Texas created this problem. I imagine the same would be possible in other southern states given the issues that are now apparent. Therefore, lack of effective preparation on their part will put my kids (who go through power outages in winter that I prepare for) further in debt.

It’s the same thing every time...... foreseeable and predictable event happens, FEMA rushes in to “help”, politicians do photo ops and lots of media hits, reporters fan hysteria, checks are written, and everyone goes back to sleep until the next predictable disaster often and usually in my experience caused by incompetence or failure to prioritize on the part of local and state officials.

Hope this makes sense. Prayers for those impacted by this crazy weather in Texas.

Exactly what is Cruz supposed to do about the power outage?

Cruz should be in Washington working on getting emergency relief to Texas--federal or otherwise.

I’m sure this was a pre-planned vacation

So? He doesn't manage the local 7-11, he's a US senator.

Yes, the cowardly back stabber certainly did. He’s totally worthless as far as Texas is concerned.

I don’t get this ‘it doesn’t matter what he does’ type of response. If he is that useless for TX, why bother with him for anything. It’s not like he’s been that great in general and he nearly lost the last election.. He lost me with the primary nonsense. Blaming Trump for DC and this just makes him person non grata for forever.
