The Almighty sadly had a due date for that talent on loan.

Rest in peace Rush. Gone from this earth but never forgotten by his adopted family. We respected you and loved you and grieve for our loss. Our thoughts and prayers today for your family and especially you wife Catherine. A very sad day.

I remember way back. Rush could seem egotistical. He’d say “talent on loan from God” about himself.
Until one day he said to a caller, “we are all, Sir, on loan from God”.
I realized then he wasn’t bragging but making a broader point.
And of course it was entertaining and “controversial” bringing in interest, listeners and detractors. Part of his genius.

I cried after his holiday show, it was like he knew didn’t have long
I started listening in the early ‘90s because so many were complaining about him, the “Hush Rush” brigades. So I turned him on the car radio instead of listening to my mix tapes and immediately thought “That’s exactly what I think- but can never say.”
God Bless Rush & his family. And God bless the United States of America.

Just got that impression when turning on his show 20 min ago during errands. Was it his wife speaking?

I feel something of a pit in my gut.
Funny I don’t get real disturbed by celebrities dying. But this year him, and just recently Walt Williams dying around Thanksgiving really upset me.

Not sure what this water like substance is coming from my eyes, but I know it is a direct result from the hearing of this heartbreaking news.
Truly heartbreaking, yet I am happy about his promotion. Until we meet again some day my old friend.
Fully expecting it. If Trump were still president, the flags would be at half staff. With the meat puppet in the office, there will be no official recognition at all, other than like you said, pure glee.
I found Free Republic a bit later, but I remember listening to rush in 1992 or so. I remember around DC local restaurants would create Rush rooms where people could go and eat while listening to the show.
So sorry to hear this.
He’s been a part of my life for 33 years.
I was pretty sure it was coming soon, but this is one
personal prediction to myself, that I would have been
happy to have been wrong about.
I miss Johnny Carson. I miss Ronald Reagan. I will
now miss Rush Limbaugh.
If people had listened to Rush and grasped his message,
this nation would be so much better off.
So very sad. Memory eternal and no longer suffering.
