Lindsey Graham joins Democrats in backing witnesses, saying, ‘If you want a delay, it will be a long one with many, many witnesses.’
Former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial looked on track to last longer than expected after the Senate voted on Saturday morning in favor of calling witnesses.
Witnesses hadn’t been expected in the proceedings, but the lead House manager, Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, said on Saturday morning that his team wanted to call Republican Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington state after she released a statement late Friday that said Trump on Jan. 6 resisted telling his supporters to stop storming the Capitol.
Those five GOP senators included four known for criticizing Trump — Maine’s Susan Collins, Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski, Utah’s Mitt Romney and Nebraska’s Ben Sasse. South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham, a Trump ally, also voted for calling witnesses, after tweeting on Saturday morning that, “If you want a delay, it will be a long one with many, many witnesses.”

The idea is to drag this out for as long as possible so the corrupt media can continue the propaganda that there was an insurrection, and there is no evidence of election fraud. They want to keep this going in case SCOTUS rules in Trump’s favor.
I despise Lindsey Graham but the die was cast before he changed his vote. Maybe this Dem witness strategy will turn out to be one of those “careful what you ask for” situations.
Graham voting for witnesses isn’t the worst most despicable thing he has done in the last week.
That’s what I was thinking. Hopefully he uses the opportunity to mess with the Commierats. But he still sucks. Literally.
How about having the ability to cross examine and humiliate?
So if the Rinos and devices block Trump’s witnesses, we still have a free country?
They aren’t adding witnesses they are adding a charge after they closed their case.
Trump’s conversation after the fact isn’t relevant to the incitement charge.
“Graham switched his vote to aye because you have to be on the winning side of an issue to call for a re-vote. It was a strategic move, not an anti-Trump move.”
Makes the most sense so far. Mcconnell let him. They know what to do.
It’s like a bunch of 16yo girls screaming here. Geeze!
Deep breath, people!!!
Complete and total BS!
This was the plan all along. Just get into the Senate and turn it into another months-long Trump-bashing football. They’ll say they can’t do the work of the people because they’re thoroughly engaged in investigating the “insurrection Trump orchestrated.”
“Witnesses.” I doubt we’ll hear many genuine ones. But once we hear the first we’ll never hear the end of them until enough Republicans signal that they’ll vote with the Democrats to “convict” a man who is already out of office.
“He joined other Repubs....but for a different reason.”
In the two minutes of this Stalinist Show Trial I watched, Graham switched his vote.
Clearly, he’s switching his vote so he can then argue for more witnesses saying, I’ve agreed to yours and now you must agree to ours.
There’s talk about brining in the commie DC mayor, Bowers.
Are the American people so stupid they will breathlessly hang on the words of each witness and each vote to allow or deny each further witness? Boring.
Based on which DC denizen wants the most media face time this could last through the summer.
Good line in the novel and movie Advise and Consent:
“Mister Chairman, I will be brief.”
VP chairing the hearing: “I will always with great pleasure allow a member of this body to be brief.”
I suspect this delaying tactic is to keep public attention away from Xio Biden and his executive order barrage
..... Well ... Looks like the unconstitutional trial will now conveniently last until the summer or even later. This is now just a diversion and is Russia Collusion Part Deux .... With the exception that the President no longer the President ... What a Joke .....
probably because miss linda is not on our side and would love to damage President Trump
Lindsey is not in the majority so little hope he can call anyone
Cui Bono?
Does this give him some voting rights in the Senate system.
The Rats rested.
Too late for witnesses.
I am mindful that Lindsay Graham loves to take the main chance, for example, in the Cavanaugh hearing he stole the show and he will no doubt try to do the same thing here. We shall see.
Meanwhile a sham impeachment trial becomes burlesque flirting with tragedy. At the end of the day one more institution will have entirely lost whatever confidence the people had left for it
The democrats pulled this stunt.
They have the votes even without the light in the loafer R’s.
Aim down range.
Let’s have witnesses
Chill? Linseed? Your kidding right? We have people that still can’t tell friend from foe.
