Lindsey Graham joins Democrats in backing witnesses, saying, ‘If you want a delay, it will be a long one with many, many witnesses.’
Former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial looked on track to last longer than expected after the Senate voted on Saturday morning in favor of calling witnesses.
Witnesses hadn’t been expected in the proceedings, but the lead House manager, Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, said on Saturday morning that his team wanted to call Republican Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington state after she released a statement late Friday that said Trump on Jan. 6 resisted telling his supporters to stop storming the Capitol.
Those five GOP senators included four known for criticizing Trump — Maine’s Susan Collins, Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski, Utah’s Mitt Romney and Nebraska’s Ben Sasse. South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham, a Trump ally, also voted for calling witnesses, after tweeting on Saturday morning that, “If you want a delay, it will be a long one with many, many witnesses.”

Graham switched his vote to aye because you have to be on the winning side of an issue to call for a re-vote. It was a strategic move, not an anti-Trump move.

Now they will have to vote on each individual witness as far as I can tell..
I will reserve judgement until we hear from him. Why would be change his mind only after seeing how the vote went? Must be a reason — I think it is a chess move of some kind...I hope.

I searched an old topic and saw "the conservative website Drudge Report...." That dated it.
At least they seem to have stopped saying it. But media is still stuck on "the right wing Fox News said...."

Graham got threatened. Public threat was had to do with the Georgia steal.

If Senate goes ahead with witnesses, there will have to be individual votes to call each witness. Democrats, plus Romney et al, can call whoever they want. Can also vote down any or all Trump requests for witnesses. Anger ahead.
What is going on with all the Freepers running around with their hair on fire? Lindsey knows more than any of us what’s going on with his vote. Take a deep breath, let it out, relax, and see why.

I recall Lindsey taunting the Dems weeks ago, that he had plenty of witnesses to call if they chose to play it that way.
