Closing arguments at former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial were expected to get underway Saturday morning — with each side granted two hours to make their final case to the US Senate before an expected vote on the verdict later in the day.

But Day 5 started instead with House impeachment manager Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) asking to subpoena records and call a witness sparking fierce debate with Trump defense lawyer Michael van der Venn.

That is their codeword for the same thing— to avoid the face up reality they have whatever they have FABRICATED. Oh, and the info from the riot is catching up— non Trump people, known loonies on the fibbie watch lists, and led by AntiFA and BLM locally placed “leadership” interacting with Mayor Bowser.

Our mil intel has more than the fibbies—willing to bet, and not sharing all they have keeping it out of the hands of the Bad State.

I would call Kamala Harris.

Why was she promoting riots during the election season?

Why is she not impeached.

Call Joe Biden. Why was he allowing his VP to call for Violence? Why did he call for violence?

Then Pelosi... on and on. Lets do it.

Heard Ralph Nader yesterday -- yeah he ain't dead flipped my wig too -- late afternoon on some libtard radio show and he out-of-the-blue started pleading to "Delay the trial! Hear more witnesses!" and I thought w.t.f.

Now it's clear that the minions and the mandarins and all the DC coolies had this planned for the weekend all along.

That’s the most closely guarded secret in American history. Where was Obama, the CIC, on the night of Benghazi?? No one has the guts to ask. Pathetic.

“What, exactly, was Trump supposed to do, or able to do, in that that period of time — a few minutes — to get Pence out?”

Really.

1. PDJT was speaking at the time Pence (allegedly) was in danger.
2. PDJT does not have ESP, x-ray vision a mile away.
3. He absolutely NEEDED Pence on that particular day in relation to the electoral votes so wouldn’t want him harmed.

This is insane.

Graham and Trump had a telephone conference a couple of days ago, so it’s possible that this was coordinated in case witnesses were called and that Graham’s vote was a strategic vote. I believe this gives him the right to intervene in the process in some way.

I suspect Graham may have changed his vote in consideration of parliamentary procedure, Senate Rule 13. In order to preserve ability to move for reconsideration of the vote for hearing witnesses, a senator must have voted with the prevailing side, or not voted.

https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/SMAN-116/pdf/SMAN-116.pdf

RULE XIII 13

RECONSIDERATION

13.1

1. When a question has been decided by the Senate, any Senator voting with the prevailing side or who has not voted may, on the same day or on either of the next two days of actual session thereafter, move a reconsideration; and if the Senate shall refuse to reconsider such a motion entered, or if such a motion is withdrawn by leave of the Senate, or if upon reconsideration the Senate shall affirm its first decision, no further motion to reconsider shall be in order unless by unanimous consent. Every motion to reconsider shall be decided by a majority vote, and may be laid on the table without affecting the question in reference to which the same is made, which shall be a final disposition of the motion.

213.2

When a bill, resolution, report, amendment, order, or message, upon which a vote has been taken, shall have gone out of the possession of the Senate and been communicated to the House of Representatives, the motion to reconsider shall be accompanied by a motion to request the House to return the same; which last motion shall be acted upon immediately, and without debate, and if determined in the negative shall be a final disposition of the motion to reconsider.

“McCarthy called Trump and asked him to “call off” his supporters...”

‘If that had happened, Trump would have then took ownership of the riot. A set up.’

Agree, my first thought too. In France, 10 years or so ago, the ‘refugees’ were torching up their neighborhoods, even more than usual. The government called on the Imams to stop the violence, and their first answer was “Screw you, we’re not going to be blamed for it.*” Of course it was their mob, so they were eventually forced to call an end to it. This was NOT Trump’s mob, and he had no requirement to take ownership of it.

Also, if the best-armed city, probably in the world (considering the military and civilian g-men with guns) CANNOT hold off a guy with horns trying to hang a picture of a black guy sitting on a bed, it’s not Trump’s fault.

“My point is as it relates to McCarthy calling the President and telling him to call off his supporters.”

And my point is that McCarthy was, intentionally or unintentionally, trying to get Trump take ownership of the entire riot with a statement using that kind of language at that particular time.

Trump did, of course, much later, tell his supporters to go home. That is different than telling rioters to withdraw.

If they get witnesses, we get witnesses. Not seeing the downside of tying up congress for months. The longer this drags out the longer it delays them damaging the country.

“If they get witnesses, we get witnesses.”

You state this all as fact...
How do you know this?

Did they vote for witnesses on BOTH sides?

“Obviously you are unaware of the overall ‘movements’ going on by the GOPe and anti-Trumpers. Lindsey is a SNAKE.”

Agree. If Miss Lindsey were on PDJT’s side he wouldn’t have hooked up with Nikki after she jumped off the Trump Train the day before.

It’s a set up, and I’m sure the Dems had this last minute stuff planned in advance. Supposedly Trump told McCarthy that his supporters cared more about the election than he did. Not sure how he was supposed to “call them off,” anyway, since he hadn’t encouraged or planned this in the first place,

PDJT knew about Pence’s life being in danger

Was Pence's life in any more danger than that of any member of congress or their staff?

AFAIK none of them was physically hurt, though they were understandably frightened. AFAIK none of the intruders brought a knife or a gun into the Capitol.

And the point is this is the point. Your opinion against the democrats. Trump could use a few good Lawyers...go lawyer up.

It is simple evidence in a paper bag at the moment.

They weren’t Trump’s supporters who were breaking in at that particular spot in the timeline.

Ms. Herrera Beutler’s account of what Mr. McCarthy told her.

Yes...the Congresswoman did not hear one word of the actual phone conversation. So, I wonder if McCarthy said anything to her and to anyone else. I have to believe this idiot is capable of it. It is likely why McCarthy is silent now.

“But that doesn’t make McCarthy’s viewpoint any more valid?”

What McCarthy did or didn’t say is hearsay, and a pathetic game of “Telephone”.

What PDJT said is on video.
