Longest-Serving Woman in Congress Says She Feels Increasingly Alienated in Democratic Party
The Epoch Times ^ | February 3, 2021 | Tom Ozimek

The longest-serving woman in Congress, Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio), told The Hill in a recent interview that she struggles with a growing sense of alienation within the Democratic party as she fights for the interests of her largely working-class Midwest constituents while the Democrat party is increasingly dominated by representatives from wealthy, often coastal districts.

“They just can’t understand,” Kaptur told the outlet, referring to the difficulty some of her Democrat colleagues have in relating to the concerns of blue-collar constituents like hers.

“They can’t understand a family that sticks together because that’s what they have. Their loved ones are what they have, their little town, their home, as humble as it is—that’s what they have,” she added.

Kaptur told the outlet that she worries that the voices of congressional Democrats who represent wealthy districts are increasingly drowning out those who represent heartland districts.

“It’s been very hard for regions like mine, which have had great economic attrition, to get fair standing, in my opinion,” Kaptur said, adding that, as a Democrat who represents a working-class district, she feels like a minority within her party.

In the interview, Kaptur touched on congressional district data, which showed that 19 out 20 of the nation’s wealthiest districts are represented by Democrats.

“Several of my colleagues who are in the top ranks have said to me, ‘You know, we don’t understand your part of the country.’ And they’re very genuine,” Kaptur said. “You can’t understand what you haven’t been a part of.”

The idea that Democrats are losing touch with their blue-collar roots and are increasingly turning into the party of the elites while Republicans are on track to becoming a multiethnic working-class coalition was an oft-repeated theme in the wake of the 2020 election.

In his first remarks following the November election, in which the GOP defied expectations and made gains in the House, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the House Minority Leader, declared, “This election cycle has made one thing clear: The Republican Party is now the party of the American worker.”

The 2020 election results, in general, reinforced the view that the Republican party is poised to become a multiethnic coalition of working-class voters. In the presidential race, for instance, former President Donald Trump won the largest share of non-white voters, a traditionally Democrat demographic, of any Republican since 1960.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) commented on the fact that Trump won Zapata County, in Texas, by a margin of 52–47 percent in 2020, while he lost that same county to Hilary Clinton in 2016 by a margin of 65–32 percent.

“#Florida & the Rio Grande Valley showed the future of the GOP: A party built on a multi-ethnic multi-racial coalition of working AMERICANS,” Rubio wrote in a tweet.

Republicans should put a push on for those who feel the same to switch parties, immediately or for 2022.

It shouldn’t be a tough sell in their districts.

And then put a push on in “urban welfare districts”. Job creation will provide more for their families than Democratic Party promises of government provided subsistence.

It is the feeling that they are reliant on that welfare which generates the level of election/vote fraud we saw in 2020. And the inability of the republicans to get that message across.

“The idea that Democrats are losing touch with their blue-collar roots...”

Gee I don’t know about that...just look at how helpful Biden has been in “liberating” the thousands of pipeline workers from their daily toil!

How about term limits instead on government programs and GS15 bureaucrats?

From the experience with Reagan and Trump, eliminating bad regulation and law is the most effective way of dealing with too much government. Terming out people will just leave a spot for some other grifter to pick up. That’s why I have this rant about “absolute sunset” cued up:

Absolute Sunset Rant

We need an incontrovertible, un-deniable process to assure we know where elected representatives stand on the basic, foundational aspects of civilization, and how capable they are at maintaining a lawful, proper government.

Here's a proposal I've nicknamed "Absolute Sunset". It's a charter or Constitution-level change, and it can be implemented as needed at the local, state, and federal level. The basic premise is to require a regular public re-affirmation by elected representatives for every law, regulation, directive, edict, proscription, whatever you call the rule-making artifact. This would take place at the beginning of every session, with no discussion or debate, just an affirmation required with the same required majority from the original body required to pass the original bill.

The order of the list of items should be in the reverse of the original precedence of enactment, allowing newer items superseding the older to be removed first. The term for which the affirmation (including the original passage) is valid should be at least the term of two sessions, but on beginning of the third session, the affirmation should be required. If the affirmation fails, then the object expires at the end of the legislative session unless re-instated in full as originally written during the session. In addition, all precedent and other derivative aspects of government founded on the failed object should be completely discarded so as to clean it out of the system completely. An act of repeal should be limited to the repeal and be equivalent to a failure of affirmation, not new legislation.

Then and only then would you know what interests your elected representatives truly represent, because they would be on the spot every single session for the basics of the government. Should they fail to preserve the laws, it will be evident. Should they prefer to let a bad law stand, it will be so evident. Since the schedule of what will be put to the question is fixed, every election will offer an opportunity for the candidate to pledge their affirmation, so it will a subject of contention during the election.

And it will be entirely clear as to whether they keep their promises or stand by their principles.

This will also have the benefit of cleaning up the books over time so that the dead hand of failed and unpopular laws and regulations will not strangle us for generations.

It’s a start. But what about high powered lifer/loafers who work in the Deepwater? And getting rid of the SEIU? Remember, even pro-labor FDR said it would be unthinkable for government employees to be unionized.

Biden lost about 200 counties that had been won by Clinton in 2016, and won 400 less than the counties won by Obama in 2008. But he smashed Obama’s 2008 record by 13 million votes. Sure.

IN THE RACE FOR HOUSE SEATS EVERYONE RUNNING UNDER THE DEMON-O-CRAT LABEL VOTED FOR THESE TWO ISSUES
ABORTION FUNDING SUPPORT AND THIS

FORCE Schools To Let Male Athletes Compete In Girls’ Sports...Any Dem congressman who didn’t support this got kicked out by holding their primary in remapped districts. This effort by those in control of the demo party shpould have been used to demonstrate where that party is coming from. Why weren’t those votes an issue in this 2020 campaign by the Republicans ? Not just where this occurred but nationally?

.. Democratic candidate for America’s Vice President California and likely presidential replacement Sen. Kamala Harris sponsored a Senate bill that would that would force funding public schools to allow biologically male athletes who identify as transgender on girls’ sports teams.

In March 2019, Harris cosponsored the Equality Act, which would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 . Among other things, the bill would force public schools to expand female athletic teams to include biological males who identify as transgender girls

.Also did this http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3877896/posts and this http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3880192/posts

.. HERE’S HOW THEY TREATED CONSERVATIVE CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS WHO DONT SUPPORT FUNDING STUFF LIKE THIS

.. And why there is no such thing as a Conservative Dem in Congress An example is Illinois 3rd district
..
Todays Democrats weren’t happy with this father then son votes against abortion and the son’s being the only congressional democrat to vote NO on allowing men to to call themselves a women and compete with women in college sports. To stop this the demoncrats decided to remap the areas which supported them for their 2020 primary.

The ward (the 23rd) and the congressional district formerly the 5th which they changed into being the 3rd Illinois congressional by taking ward areas which had areas dominated by hispanic fore names and placed them into the Louis Gutierez district.

In the reshaped 3rd Congressional district primary Daniel Lipinski lost because of this redistricting. Of a district which had previously included adjacent Chicago city wards to his 23rd. which was “re-mapped in 2012 after former alderman and ward committeeman now congressman William O Lipinski annouced his retirement and wanted his son for his congressional replacement .

The remap was replacing ward boundaries of the 14th known as the stockyards which had experienced extensive demographic changes. They chopped up and placed sections of streets and blocks that were not only in the 23rd but the of adjacent 12th and 15th wards and made them the 14th ward

Now because Chicago alderman oversee routing of such things as garbage collections and getting city services . Some have complained of seeing rodents since as well as complained of poor road maintenance on their block. Because with this remap if your residence was in one ward your neighbor across the street or a block down is might be in another ward

.. The 5th was a district in the 1950’s which was a part of the third largest school district in the country run by the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. Those city wards were primarily composed of dozens of traditional value family oriented Catholic/Christian communities centered around their churches and their schools. Hence opposed to funding such things as abortion and LGBT activities rather for issues that dealt exclusively with city issues such as a subway L service and the Stevenson Expressway.

These Wards once were reliable supporters of Dan’s father, William O Lipinski. But after the 2012 redistricting the number of precincts in the 23rd were cut back to 39 and even their ward headquarters location was stuck in another ward.

And where many wards had areas with Hispanic last names those areas were redistricted and assigned to the Louis Gutieriez’s district. In areas where buildings were abandoned affected by the no money down home mortgages or had changed because of this. The ward such as the 14th known as Back of The Yards because of the former stock yards which has since relocated was remapped to include portions of other wards mainly the 23rd which Those results actually tear up the concept of a neighborhood and pit people against each other by using division.

In some of those wards areas of city blocks which were zoned exclusively for single family dwellings residents suddenly found their neighborhood having houses torn down and being replaced with multiple apartments with the units not required to furnish parking facilities and many renters were illegals. Much of which fit the plans for the suburbs
