This list is based on the availability of the Sacraments in the traditional rites, homeschooling laws, and coronavirus regulations.
As the Biden regime teases another national lockdown and Americans worry about their civil liberties and the basic right to peaceably assemble, the divide between blue and red states is becoming increasingly obvious. The following is a list of what I think are some of the best and worst states for pro-life Catholics and freedom-loving Americans, based on the availability of the Sacraments in the traditional rites, homeschooling laws, and coronavirus regulations.
These rankings are based on publicly available data and anecdotal information. This list should also not be taken as suggesting that these are the only good or easy places to live as a Catholic or pro-lifer; in addition to the need to evangelize rabidly secular places, many people are unable to relocate because of jobs or family. And of course, even in the darkest of places, there are still little pockets of light where families can carve out a safe community, live the faith, and educate their children. There are also likely some big positives to living in states not on this list.
Best: South Dakota, Florida, and Idaho
South Dakota
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has made a name for herself as a rising star in the GOP. She never shut down her state because of the coronavirus outbreak. There is no statewide “mask mandate” (although individual businesses and local jurisdictions, as is the case all around the country, try to force people to wear masks) and the economy is thriving.

The District is occupied Maryland
Okay Debbie Downer. Florida has a secret weapon which can drive away the nanny dependent transplants. Hurricanes.
Connecticut has to be near the top of worst states just because———well, its Connecticut.
Looks likes Harris’s business card.
How is South Carolina looking for the long term? Do you think SC will stay Red for the foreseeable future?
Great sign! The text in the lower sign needs to be MUCH larger though...
SC went safely red in 2020. Assuming that the voting system isn’t undermined, I think it will remain red for the foreseeable future. SC wasn’t considered a swing state so it wasn’t a candidate for illegal voting.
There has been a big influx of blue staters flocking to SC. How they will vote in the future is a worry.
I guess the answer depends on what your definition of "red state" is. Republicans should control the statehouse and elected federal offices for the next eight years but that does not mean they are small government, low tax, freedom loving conservatives. Remember SC keeps on giving the nation Lindsey Graham. Perhaps the best thing one can say about the Palmetto State is that it is not New Jersey.
I lived in FL as a single woman from ‘88 to ‘93. I have to say the livin’ is easy there. We had every intention of moving there about five years ago, and seriously checked out real estate. But the traffic was a hot mess where we wanted to live (Bradenton / Sarasota area) so we gave up the idea.
We love TN, and we’re pretty free here. But I’m gonna scream if I see another one of Gov. Lee’s TV ads for wearing masks! (Hardly anybody does, though.)
I like that sign!
Since TN is the #1 state people are moving TO, I think we should have that on every “Welcome To Tennessee” sign on every road coming in. I think all liberals need to know that TN is an absolutely horrible, terrible state to live in. Anyone thinking of coming here should keep these words in mind: Guns and Bibles. If that’s a problem, just keep your U-Haul moving on through.
South Carolina is full blown lefty statist.
The state legislature are all RINO’s the governor is a RINO
Linda Graham is an open borders globalist elitist
Tim Scott is an opportunistic RINO and don’t even get me started on Tom Rice that uber Rockefeller RINO.
Me too. Retired to Lee County, FL six years ago. Love it here. Solid red.
Where are you going?
I’m in lake county. It’s pretty awesome and red as well.
Bought some land up in Alaska a little while ago. Selling my house in Florida now while the market’s hot before the inevitable crash comes.
I actually have been planning this move to happen “eventually, sometime in the next few years”, but recent events have prompted me to accelerate my plans.
I hear you. I used to live in a large city where people would flood to the beaches every chance they got, and as the population doubled in my lifetime, the beaches that used to be quiet little old-time protestant retreat towns started getting junked up. The little bungalows where you could keep the windows open and hear the waves as you drifted off to sleep were being torn down and replaced with McMansions with big, loud whole-house air conditioning units between houses. SUVs and vans that used to have to park on the street were now stinking up the air outside the neighboring bunglows on driveways under gigantic new houses up on pilings. When I found a good little old rental in a beach town with reasonable rents and not many amenities, I would just pack the car with our bicycles and everything we'd need for a week, go there, cook for us and be happy. When people asked me where I went to the beach, I would avoid telling. Or I'd say, "There's nothing to do there and no place to eat or to go."
New York is really the worst, somebody give Cuomo another award.
Yes. One of the reasons I retired here.
Although Yankees moving here to retire and bringing their leftist mindset are a pain.
That’s a bit how we feel about Jacksonville. We would be okay to stay in Florida, but if at all possible we would move out to a smaller town.
We have thoughts on Oklahoma, a solid red state plus I do have family there.
