Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) has made good on his promise to begin his effort to “decriminalize all drug use” step by step with the introduction of several bills at the start of the new legislative session. Senate Bill 57 creates “safe injection sites” in Oakland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles where drug addicts can use illicit drugs under medical supervision. Senate Bill 73 lowers the criminal penalties on users and dealers of heroin, opiates or opium derivatives, salts, cannabis, phencyclidine (PCP), and other dangerous drugs. Still promised, but not yet introduced, is a bill Wiener says will legalize all psychedelic drugs such as LSD and magic mushrooms.

And the whole sex perv thing includes pedophilia of course. Pedophiles have rights, too!
Hey! Here's a thought! All America's libtardarians should "head west, dude!" To san fransicko!
Just WOW
I get that the war on drugs is a disaster, but how can anyone think this is a good idea.
Every culture has its drug use. Look around and see the damage, but even this obvious damage has been curtailed by some moral, ethical, religious dogma within the society.
If we totally unleash this dog into the godless, amoral urban culture that infects our country we are toast.
Yes Dr.s need to have the freedom to treat and no one needs to have their life ruined because they light up a doobe, but we can't pay people to fry their brains.
Yes, pay people to do it. With all the freebies and programs for the homeless it would take no time to fill the morgues.
On the other hand it would put a dent in the number of protesters and unemployed , so there is that up side.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Sorry about this guys but it looks like this is my fault.
What is it with the demented Democrats with the name Weiner?
It doesn’t work that way. Organized crime (including the old Mafia) is still involved in alcohol sales and as silent partners in night clubs; they even smuggle cigarettes.
My years of working with convicts convinced me that addicts don’t commit crimes to support their drug habits, criminals use and abuse drugs as part of their criminal lifestyle.
On the other claw, most criminals who heavily abuse drugs die young, like before they are 35. Maybe we could allow unrestricted access to and use of drugs as a way to reduce the anti-social part of the population. Think of it as evolution in action.
“safe injection site”
Just no. If they want to kill them selves by ingesting poisons, and we can’t help them by preventing it, I see no reason we should pay to make it “safer’ and ‘easier’
I take it you never met a meth attic. There will be more dead bodies on the street than poop in San Francisco.
Who is going to produce said poison and provide it to the masses? Are we going to legalize the production, transportation and sale of said poison?
I agree with you on pot but some stuff is just deadly.
Did "they" say it would happen immediately? Legal weed sales began in CA only in 2018.
And "cut down" is not "eliminate."
Still spewing this BS? I challenge you yet again to name a single FReeper who supports open borders or abortion.
How much money do they pull in?
Not to mention the lost war on burglary, robbery and theft. Been illegal for centuries but these still occur at epidemic rates.
And before you respond, no, drug crimes are NOT “victimless” crimes, externalities notwithstanding.
Please don’t point to Amsterdam as some kind of model society.
Let ‘em die. Too stupid to live. I am tired of trying to save everybody.
But if we let ‘em die, we’re “racists.” And they’ll demand that all racists must foot the outrageous bill for these drugged out derelicts.
They already call me a racist, so who cares anyway.
I'd be interested in an answer to these questions myself. The government's jihad against doctors who prescribe opiates to those with real, chronic pain should be an anathema in a free country (which, of course, we haven't been for decades).
Personally, I have no desire whatsoever to use any drug more powerful than alcohol (I like beer). I really don't care about what other people do. However, actions of free men should still have consequences. If you cause harm to someone else while under the influence of anything, you should have to accept the consequences of your actions. Also, just because you've decided to drug yourself into oblivion, I, as a member of society should not be obligated to support you.
Personally, I think our society would benefit greatly if we remove the criminal element from the entire drug issue. I think it would be nice to actually have police be able to focus on property crimes and violence, as opposed to a transaction between consenting adults. I prefer to live as a free man and not be subject to government coercion in regards to every little thing, from seatbelts, to drugs.
Agreed.
I don’t see a decrease in hard drug use anywhere. I see the opposite. Who cares at this point though? It’s just one more nail in America’s coffin.
I have seen plenty of similar wounds just from heroin- necrotic and purulent and leading to lengthy hospital stays and surgeries. It’s hideous. It’s usually 20 year olds. They don’t seem to make it their 30s.
Good. Why let criminals make all the money? If you want to continue a stupid, costly and pointless ‘’war on drugs’’ then drop the hypocrisy and add alcohol to the list of controlled substances.
