A Trump third party could provoke a pivotal realignment in American politics. With the support of 46% of registered voters in the new poll, Democrats would reap the benefits of a fractured opposition and entrench themselves as the nation's dominant party — even without majority support.
Among "very conservative" voters — who make up a disproportionately large bloc within the Republican primary electorate — a Trump Patriot Party crushes the GOP 55%-24%.
Should Trump remain in the GOP, his wide lead among these highly motivated voters affords him great leverage to influence the direction of the party by wielding the threat of conservative primary challenges against establishment Republicans ill at ease with the former president's combative brew of conservatism infused with populism and nationalism.

With fixed voting, it doesn’t make a difference, HOWEVER, it has to scare them to death because of the growing diversity of the potential party. The Patriot Party could provide a place for disenfranchised democrat voters (and lots of black Americans) to go without the baggage of the GOP. The GOP is dead, like it or not.
True. The Republican Party either needs to kick the Rino/Democrats out of the party or Trump threatens to start the Patriot party.
If true, this why both parties will vote to convict Trump.
Just what “vote” are they talking about? We no longer have legit elections in this country.
The Lin Wood strategy of completely losing.
People who repeat this BS from 2004 fail to answer the burning question, ARE YOU WINNING NOW?????
Geez.
Ask the craven GOP fluffers this: “If the Patriot Party (MAGA) is formed and is on the ballot will you vote for them or stick with the GOP”. I have found that question drives them wild and crazy...
They are too arrogant to listen. They need to learn the hard way.
“Democrat dream come true”
I believe the #walkaway movement would gain steam if there was a freedom loving America first party to go to. Many dems, especially now, eyes are opening for the first time.
The normal people in this country know there is only the uniparty and people from both sides are dying for a new America first type party.
We worry about splitting the vote, when really we are talking about killing the uniparty.
Trump needs to get a Democrat who is disgusted to start a Democrat offshoot party. George Washington warned us about a two party system.
This may be the only way to stave off the fall. Some form of parliamentary government, minus the PM.
OT... But just saw on Town Hall that Roberts will refuse from impeachment and Leahy will now preside over trial
Sounds unconstitutional to me, but we knew they had something else up their sleeve
[GOPe fluffers on FR are in shock....]
The perspective of third party enthusiasts is that it can’t get any worse. That’s what the Russians thought when they stood by as the Romanovs were toppled by the Bolsheviks. How could it possibly get worse than life under the Tsars? They found out in a jiffy. It can always get worse - and worse beyond your most pessimistic projections.
So... they determine the sample makeup according to party affiliation in order to poll and determine party affiliation?!?!
I don’t care who commissioned this or conducted it, the “Democrat” part of this is messed up.
Just poll Republicans and see who’d change parties.
At one time I was dead set against a 3rd party, as you say, supporting the GOP establishment has not worked so we have to do something different.
If it requires allowing the Democrats to win until we get the Republican Establishment destroyed, so be it...
I’m open to suggestions to other alternatives, but right now I don’t see anything that’s is remotely viable.
My sense is trying to take over the GOP from within is doomed from the start. How many times have we thought we were going that way only to have them swallowed by the swamp.
Thank you sir may I have another one?
Recuse
Damn autospell
We are a two party nation. The sooner the Republican party is defeated, the sooner a new party can take its place.
Two questions:
1. Could a new party be viable?
2. Can the Republican party be reformed?
I believe that the Republican party cannot be reformed. It will always be hostile to conservatives. So I would like to see a new party.
