A photograph of a presumably indigenous man wearing a red-and-gold T-shirt that reads “Caucasians,” a parody of the NFL team formerly known as the Washington Redskins, has sparked a viral debate on Twitter.
The photograph shared by @infamouschar appears to have been lifted from the original user, who was not credited, and the man in the image remains anonymous.
Nevertheless, the tweet has raked in more than 525,000 likes in 36 hours, with many in the replies vowing to buy a version of the novelty shirt for themselves. However, others argued that the relatively tame irony didn’t go far enough to actually offend white people, pointing out that “redskin” is a racial slur against indigenous Americans, while team mascots such as the Vikings and the Celtics are not regarded as insults to white cultures.

Same thing happened with the "Fighting Whities" t-shirt. Many whites loved it and planned to order it, but the makers were upset that whites were not properly offended. So they added some message to the shirts, something about whites oppressing Native Americans or some such.
While whites usually intend no offense with Native American team names, shirts with whites on them are deliberately designed to offend.
He’s not even blonde!!
I need two of these shirts.
(Snicker, snicker)
👍😁
But Washington was a Caucasian and a slave owner. Oh No!
I was thinking “white skins”.
But “pale faces” is much better.
That’s People of Pallor, to you.
My team name choice is Deadskins.
Alternate choices:
Crackers
Honkys
Peckerwoods
I also like palefaces
Anyone concerned about removing native Americans from our culture?
humor in a humorless world
Right up there with THE FIGHTING WHITIES!

Maybe Indians get agitated about "Redskins" for the benefit of White people, but aren't that hostile to the name among themselves. Maybe to them it's not really a big deal in their heart of hearts. Those who aren't activists might even have a soft spot for the old name.
If those other teams were the "Minnesota Stupid Norskies" and the "Boston Drunken Micks." Scandinavian-Americans and Irish-Americans would feel they had to complain in public, but would relish the names in private.
ENGINES
It’s hard to imagine how I’d get offended by that T-shirt.
That is perfect. Off topic slightly, but Indian Motorcycle is now the most popular bike amongst Native American riders.
Is that supposed to be an Armenian, an Azerbaijani, a Georgian, an Ossetian, or a Chechen?
That’s what the NHL is.
😆
