Washington “One-China” Policy Dead As Pompeo Lifts Restrictions On US-Taiwan Relations
The embattled Trump administration has just nuked the decades long US recognition of the “One China” policy status quo in what surely constitutes the biggest shot across Beijing’s bow after months of anti-China escalation.
Despite the globe’s attention focused on the Capitol protest chaos and Democrats readying a charge to impeach under Pelosie, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Saturday announced this absolute bombshell, namely that he’s now lifting “self-imposed restrictions” on the relationship between the United States and Taiwan. He announced in an official statement:
Today I am announcing that I am lifting all of these self-imposed restrictions. Executive branch agencies should consider all “contact guidelines” regarding relations with Taiwan previously issued by the Department of State under authorities delegated to the Secretary of State to be null and void.
The US will no longer act in accord with viewing the island in context of a single sovereign China when it comes to relations with Taiwan as has kept the unsteady “peace” for decades.
His statement began by describing the complex impediments restraining US action which have been in effect since at least the 1980’s (since 1979, and outgrowth of Carter’s Taiwan Relations Act) regarding the official ‘One China’ doctrine which he’s just effectively declared null and void:
Taiwan is a vibrant democracy and reliable partner of the United States, and yet for several decades the State Department has created complex internal restrictions to regulate our diplomats, servicemembers, and other officials’ interactions with their Taiwanese counterparts. The United States government took these actions unilaterally, in an attempt to appease the Communist regime in Beijing. No more.
Crucially the shock announcement comes just ahead of U.S. Ambassador to the UN Kelly Craft’s controversial visit to Taipei...

What if this was done so the U.S. could hand a few nuclear-tipped cruise missiles to Taiwan and give them the launch codes? There ain’t much Sleepy Joe could do to get them back.
Where is Trump? Lindsey Graham said that he had spent the day with the President during his recent Fox Hannity interview - but that could mean by Zoom from two different geolocations. Graham is not in session so he should be home on break.
If I were moving house permanently and to a far away state, the closing in just 10 days, I would be packing. I would make sure the guest rooms were top shape so that the next couple could stay there while they redecorate the main rooms to their taste. In Melania’s case, directing the cleaners and packers and movers. Why isn’t the MSM drooling over every moving van at the WH and lying about the Trumps stealing the silver from the Dish Room? Where is Melania?
No photos of Orange Man Bad golfing this weekend? Hmmm...
Per Lin Wood and other sources Trump is going to provide evidence of vote fraud and everything else via the Emergency Broadcast System. There’s going to be a ton of resignations and arrest in the next 10 days. I strongly encourage you to stock up on basic necessities, get gas, and be prepared.
If Biden were inaugurated, he would look like a complete jackass to then turn on Taiwan by rescinding this order. China would perceive that move as a green light to invade. The whole area would ignite. The whole area might ignite anyway. 53D chess move by Trump.
Some people will think that because the google tyrants killed trump’s tweets for the moment, he doesn’t exist now.
I totally agree with you. I meant to bump the Prepper thread, too.
He has whitehouse.gov
but I know what you mean about the low info voters with the twitterverse and facebook
Earlier reports said he was to spend this week end at Camp David.
It depends. Things may not wind up how they expect.
I thought this Executive Order issued on January 5, 2021 by President Trump was interesting:
“..The United States must take aggressive action against those who develop or control Chinese connected software applications to protect our national security.
Accordingly, I hereby order:
Section 1. (a) The following actions shall be prohibited beginning 45 days after the date of this order, ..”
Why would Trump include in the Executive Order “..beginning 45 days after the date of this order, ..” if he didn’t think he would still be POTUS? Am I missing something?
Under our wonderful, bankrupt System an EO must be implemented via regulations and the regs require 45 days (in this caae Commerce has to issue them). The incoming Pretender already said he’ll “freeze” these sorts of EOs but he’ll then be admitting to some level of China weakness if he doesn’t go thru with it. Of course we know he’s on China’s payroll but plenty of the sheeple don’t.
I think this move is brilliant in terms of setting the Pretender and his half-wits back by months having to walk it back. In fact this plus the EU investment deal with China (which they signed despite all kinds of Logan Act violations by the Pretenders “transition” team asking them to wait until after Jan 20) ensures that Biden will look as weak on China as Bathhouse Barry was, except that China is a real power now.
Pompeo is backing the potential use of the 25th Amendment.
Ben Carson is the outnumbered Cabinet member who is standing by Trump.
Thank you, and I like that (Biden) “..he’ll then be admitting to some level of China weakness if he doesn’t go thru with it. ..”
At least the NONsheeple will know. :)
I wonder how many other Patriots in the Trump administration will do likewise?
Source please...
Most likely.😑
Oh I see.
There is a vague reference to Secretary Michael R. Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, two days ago “speaking to their staff”, on a LOT of stories two days ago.
What the h-—?
I think both of those two are among the most loyal Trump backers, anywhere.
Strong supporters.
100%.
He’s making it up based on MSM deep state propaganda news stories.
For the next ten days at least. Biden will impose them again.
