McConnell circulates procedures for second senate impeachment trial of Trump

Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Friday circulated to colleagues a memo outlining the procedure for holding another trial for President Trump if the House impeaches him for a second time in just over a year.

The document, which was first reported by The Washington Post, lays out how the Senate would proceed if the House approves articles of impeachment and transmits them to the upper chamber before or by Jan. 19, when senators are scheduled to resume regular business after the January recess.

I would suggest people stop reacting to HEADLINES and begin by READING the articles. McConnell is a Swamp Creature but, he is also a Republican Party guy. He knows what would happen to his party if he capitulates to the dems impeachment ploy against our President.

This is the Toitle. He knows his Senate rules. If it were possible, he’d require the consent of 200 senators. This is plainly a GFY going-away gesture before he becomes Minority Leader. If Nancy thinks she can seize dictatorial power on the basis of her razor-thin House majority, she’s got another think coming.

They can definitely impeach him after he leaves office. He can be convicted and precluded from ever running for office again. That’s really the only purpose of doing something stupid like this.

I SUGGEST THAT YOU MOVE DELIBERATELY/SLOWLY & set the possible SECOND Impeachment TRIAL in the US SENATE to commence on or about 01JUL21.
(That START DATE will give plenty of time to prepare for a “HUGE & TRULY FANCY SHOW TRIAL”, with all possible “POMP & CIRCUMSTANCE” & will certainly/completely “P-O” the FAR LEFT DIMocRATS.)

Alcee was impeached (and convicted!) as a Federal Judge and then became (and still is!) a Democratic member of Congress.

There is no recall procedure for members of Congress. The seat is his until he dies, resigns or is defeated for re-election in 2026.
