Joe Biden tells Senate Republicans to end obstruction and confirm his top cabinet picks immediately - and says he'd have loved Bernie Sanders to be Labor Secretary but needs him in the Senate

President elect Joe Biden on Friday called on the Senate to start the process to confirm his top Cabinet nominees immediately, saying there should be no vacancies during the coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis.

Biden is in danger of not having a single Cabinet official confirmed on Inauguration Day. Traditionally the Senate - which is sworn into office a few weeks ahead of a president - starts the confirmation process so there is at least part of a national security team in place when the president takes office.

'We've done our job. We've begun the job of naming these people and it's my expectation and hope that the Senate will now move to confirm these nominees promptly and fairly. As is especially the case for the nominees of secretary of state, defense, treasury, and homeland security,' he said. 'They should be confirmed as close to January 20th as possible.'

Confirm them to what??? One might think that replacing current cabinet secretaries while the current President is still in office would be a coup attempt.

I have no doubt the GOP will fall obediently into line and approve everything.

THIS is why the GOP is dead to many of us.

Watch how fast the Democrats get what they want compared to how McTurtle slow-walked President Trump's appointments. The comparison is going to be very damning to Mitch McConnell.

The author of this slop acts as if these cabinet offices will be vacant until Biden is confirmed. That’s nonsense. Every one of these executive branch departments has succession protocols in place, with long lines of positions listed for people to fill roles in temporary capacities when vacancies occur.

Jeff Sessions didn’t get confirmed until March 2017. Does anyone think the country didn’t have an Attorney General for six weeks back then?

They won't. Obama got all his selections from the GOP Sente and so will Biden. Obstruction by the GOP was only for Trump.

To me the conclusion you can draw from that is obvious but perhaps not. Make of that what you will.

It’s really fun laughing at kids in the coffee shops about this. I asked one table of kids if they really believed Biden was going to give them anything? I told them the democrats are laughing at them.

The Republican Senate should not confirm any of Biden’s nominees and instead vote on confirming Trump nominees to the current empty cabinet posts.

“It’s really fun laughing at kids in the coffee shops about this.”

While you are laughing at them, remind them that Biden may not become President on January 20th.

'We've done our job.......

FUJB!

The fix was always in. Our side could have done so much differently (hindsight can be awfully sickening) and in other cases we were helpless because none of this could be accomplished without help from a good portion of Republicans. Once Corona/Floyd crisis was established,it put in gear their ace cards to complete the coup.

Watch when the senate goes into recess so biden can make recess appointments. That will be telling.
