Capitol Police officer 'didn't have a choice' in shooting Babbitt, GOP congressman says

Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., said he witnessed the moment a police officer shot a woman inside the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday and insisted the officer had no other choice.

A pro-Trump mob of rioters rammed their way into the Capitol Wednesday as Congress held a joint session to certify the election results, sending lawmakers into hiding.

Video shows a group attempting to force itself into the House chamber, where lawmakers were present. As protesters were breaking glass on the doors that kept them out to force their way through, a law enforcement officer fired a shot. One woman, Ashli Babbitt, was struck by a bullet and later died.

"When they broke the glass in the back, the [police] lieutenant that was there, him and I already had multiple conversations prior to this, and he didn't have a choice at that time," Mullin told ABC News' George Stephanapoulos on "Good Morning America" Thursday.

"The mob was going to come through the door, there was a lot of members and staff that were in danger at the time. And when he [drew] his weapon, that's a decision that's very hard for anyone to make, and, once you draw your weapon like that, you have to defend yourself with deadly force."

Mullin said police "showed a lot of restraint" and "did the best they could."

Capitol Police supervisor, with a white shirt, cufflinks and blazer.

I don't know what your thoughts are on this, but in my unprofessional opinion, that would equate to plain clothes.........

It was murder.

We need a new party. The Republican Party is dying, and I won’t vote Republican again.

What about the 6-8 heavily-armed SWAT police BEHIND the woman (VIDEO), who let the entire incident unfold without lifting a finger, even though they were FEET away from them. And who was the masked man in a suit with a wrist radio who appeared at the woman's side SECONDS after she fell. Who is he and why didn't he intervene?

Were they there to make sure the situation was ESCALATED to the greatest extent so it could be exploited?

Maybe the shooting was legal and maybe it wasn’t (though I tend to think it probably was). But she played a stupid game and won a stupid prize. Did she really think the armed guards were just going to let her climb over a barricade and rush the House chamber with a mob behind her? Sad that she got herself killed, but she’s no “victim.”

And what’s with all the “unarmed” crap? Since when is that the standard? When did Freepers become BLMers? Next thing you know, we’re going to hear that she “didn’t do nothing” and that she was “turning her life around.”

What weapon did she have? Gun? Knife?

Perhaps a piece of fresh fruit?

...You may feel that anyone not allowed on a given property ought to be killed. That was certainly the justification offered at Tiananmen Square, where the regime’s leadership ordered its seat of power cleared, with tanks and machine gun fire, of demonstrators who defied instructions to disperse.

We should dub the guy, "The Tiananmen Square Copycat Killer."

Morgan Philips of Faux Snooz goes on the list for using the third person point of view to detach responsibility from the executioner.

They'll be describing our murders by The State in the same way...

The identity of the executioner will be a closely guarded secret, like the name of the weaselrat “whistleblower” against Trump...

Sure, an officer may use deadly force when he believes he or others may suffer death or great bodily injury. So, all the officer needs to do here is to document exactly what made him believe that an unarmed woman was going to kill or cause great bodily harm to him or others. Should be simple enough.

So will the officer be placed in jail with a 2 million dollar cash bail on him like Kyle had?

No, he's chirping because his Oklahoma House District 2 seat is safe - 75% in 2020.

On the other hand, we can send a message to Mullet here in Oklahoma House District 5 - Repukelickin Stephanie Bice beat Democrat Kendra Horn 52% to 48%.

The conservatives in her district wouldn't even need to breath hard to eject her from office. Hang her scalp on Mullet's door.

I estimate that small government conservatives are 25% of the consistent voting public [19% voted Perot in 1992, DESPITE all the Media-Uniparty-Deep State dirty tricks, which President Trump has shown us to be real things].

Wait'll the Repukes get a load of the Woke Twenty Five Percent.

I would guess that even a RepubliGimp who got 60% might not be safe if the Woke 25%ers coordinated the bayonetting really well.

See my post #274.

4 of the 5 OK congressional seats are real safe. One is not.

This was not someone’s bedroom being broken into in the middle of the night. This was in a public building, and everyone in the Capitol already knew a political protest was taking place outside their doors. Cops have a duty to simply arrest unarmed protestors not posing a threat to them and not shoot to kill them, especially when they are small women they could almost certainly handle without the need of a weapon.

There is no reason for deadly force to be the first line of defense unless cops are genuinely in potentially life-threatening situations. I’m all for cops using deadly force if someone is waving a gun or knife around and refusing to put it down or is violently resisting arrest or something similar. I’m not for cops shooting an unarmed woman trying to climb through a window when there was clearly no actual need for it, as the cops standing behind her knew (and, well, every other cop in the building also clearly knew, since no one else trespassing was killed).

I didn’t say they should be unfazed my point was the group wasn’t a violent threat and the arriving officers saw that immediately.
