Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., said he witnessed the moment a police officer shot a woman inside the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday and insisted the officer had no other choice.
A pro-Trump mob of rioters rammed their way into the Capitol Wednesday as Congress held a joint session to certify the election results, sending lawmakers into hiding.
Video shows a group attempting to force itself into the House chamber, where lawmakers were present. As protesters were breaking glass on the doors that kept them out to force their way through, a law enforcement officer fired a shot. One woman, Ashli Babbitt, was struck by a bullet and later died.
"When they broke the glass in the back, the [police] lieutenant that was there, him and I already had multiple conversations prior to this, and he didn't have a choice at that time," Mullin told ABC News' George Stephanapoulos on "Good Morning America" Thursday.
"The mob was going to come through the door, there was a lot of members and staff that were in danger at the time. And when he [drew] his weapon, that's a decision that's very hard for anyone to make, and, once you draw your weapon like that, you have to defend yourself with deadly force."
Mullin said police "showed a lot of restraint" and "did the best they could."

Capital police don’t have tasers or cs/pepper spray or rubber bullets.
Just remember the "R", for another Republican traitor to OUR Conservative cause...
Hey, Mullin.... How much was your CCP Chech?
Hey, Mullin.... How much was your CCP Check?
That's a fairly whitewashed description.
The officer was about 6 feet from the lady as she climbed through the window. Her body was almost in full view. It should have become apparent that she wasn't armed. There were people standing in the same protected hallway who didn't appear as though they thought there was an immediate threat.
There were also police on the protestors side of the door who also didn't appear to think that there was an immediate threat.
Add to that there doesn't appear to have been any other cop anywhere in or around the Capitol who thought they needed to shoot somebody.
All that aside, you don't break into buildings especially ones where you know there are going to be armed LE guarding high government officials.

Actual video of the shooting. There were policemen with guns and a man in a suit right beside her. The murderer fired from 10 ft. away through a window.

I removed this part from the Twitter address you linked. It’s tracking identifiers and is not necessary (&fbclid=IwAR0-weJvH62Yjkj9Q3f55Zg4HCS5zFkYLjKxjuj_aKRwco_5bXZkVH3bo-8)
It would be better to say “fired from 10 ft. away through a ‘broken’ window that Ashli was climbing through.”
The clothing attached to the shooter does not look like regular police uniform clothing. We need to know exactly who the shooter was working for.
“once you draw your weapon like that, you have to defend yourself with deadly force.”
Is that his defense, that he drew his gun so he had to shoot?
First, if you think this woman and the mob behind her aren’t an antifa false flag operation, I’ve got a bridge to sell you. Second, if someone attempts to break into my home, armed or not, I assume they’re not there for tea and crumpets and open fire. Now take into account that she was planning to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power that is vital for the functioning of our Republic. She is a thug, no different from antifa or that Kyle Rittenhouse idiot everyone on here seems to idolize. What did she think would happen if she tried to break into the Capitol? She went looking for trouble and found it. I’m not shedding any tears that she got her wish.
Conservatives used to be the party of law and order. What happened to that?
Flame suit is on.
Why didnt the police that were right next to her stop her.
She was part if the protected and the lamb led to the slaughter
This officer will soon be promoted. He (she) has to be promoted to advance the narrative that he (or she) did the right thing: shot a demonstrator that was threatening to overthrow the Republic.
Otherwise, people might get the notion the killing was unjustified; that going to the Capitol to redress grievances is ok. Can't have that.
The R in front of their names means nothing any longer.
And, they hadn’t even TRIED to use a social worker yet, to “de-fuse” the situation.
Thats not what the video showed
You should read the comments over on faux news about this shooting. Unbelievable is all I can say. That webpage is now in serious contention for equal credit to CNN.
Sorry, but...
Nope.
She could have been grabbed and wrestled to the ground and cuffed -- like any other rioter in any number of cities over the past year have been. There is absolutely NO justification for deadly force in this instance.
Jesus H. Chicano, these turds must all drink from a donkey’s faucet.
The woman was trying to climb into a window transom on the glass doorway into the Speaker’s Lobby which is outside the Speaker’s suite of offices. The officer saw her clearly through the glass, that she did not have any visible arms, but was wearing a backpack. There were other police behind her. I assume the threat was that she was attempting to break into an area which is reserved for the Speaker of the House. The one thing that comes to mind is that there have been very serious threats by Iran just this week so that such an act, in such a highly charged situation, could be viewed as a possible terrorist attack. What I don’t understand is how a woman who was supposedly an Air Force veteran and someone who worked in intelligence, got herself into such a compromised position.
I will say this: I would not have shot the woman under these circumstances - even if she was a known communist; which it turns out she was not.
Was there a verbal warning? I didn’t hear one.
Bull.
