..With cancer found in Ms Delaney's left lung, adrenal gland, bowel and lymph nodes, doctors expected she would have only eight to 12 months to live.
...
With little success, Ms Delaney's oncologist recommended she be put forward to trial immunotherapy, a new treatment option for lung cancer , which boosts the body's natural immune defence to fight cancer.

"Now, after being told I had a terminal illness and not long to live, I don't have any active cancer cells.
"I'm alive, I'm extremely well, and it has been an absolute miracle drug — it's incredible.

I hope Rush has access to this.
In July of 2017 my wife was diagnosed with melanoma that had metastasized to her brain, with two brain tumors. All the historical data said she would die by Christmas of that year.
They gave her two immunotherapy agents. It’s now almost 3 1/2 years later and she’s cancer free.
My first thought.
My second thought.
Wonderful!

Me too. Thinking and praying Rush can do this too.
“I hope Rush has access to this.”

Yep, I hope he has access to the very best treatments for his particular situation. Rush’s late diagnosis motivated me to get off my dead ass and pay more attention to my health. As a former heavy smoker I found out that I was eligible for the low dose CT lung cancer screening test. I had that test and they found a SMALL potentially “suspicious” lung nodule. I go back in March for another CT scan to see if the nodule is growing in a way possibly indicating malignancy requiring further action.
For my fellow former (or current) smokers, here’s a link with more information on this screening:

It could save your life.
God bless you for posting that!
Am curious how Immunotherapy works. Why can’t it be used on all diseases?
It could save your life....I’m 71. Why should I care? At 21, yeah maybe.
Not all cancers respond to immunotherapy although new therapies are being developed daily. They tend to be very narrowly targeted to specific types and subtypes of cancers. When they work they are miraculous but also have very significant and even fatal side effects. they are a godsend but more work to be done
I think you are injected with a large dose of a pathogen in the area of the cancer that you are immunized against.
Thank you...I’m curious about this therapy for other health issues relating to my sister....so will investigate further.
Why can’t it be used on all diseases?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
One reason might be autoimmune diseases- In some diseases (RA for one) the meds that are used actually fight your own immune system.
