Newly sworn-in NH House Speaker Dick Hinch dies of COVID-19 Autopsy determines cause of death to be COVID-19

CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire’s House Speaker Dick Hinch died Wednesday, just a week after he was sworn in as leader of the state’s newly Republican-led Legislature. He was 71.

An autopsy determined that the cause of Hinch's death was COVID-19.

Hinch, of Merrimack, was starting his seventh two-year term in the state House. He previously served as majority leader for the 2016-17 session and as minority leader when Democrats were in control the last two years. His death was announced by his office, which did not give any details of what it called “this unexpected tragedy.”

Gov. Chris Sununu ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff and said he was profoundly sad to learn of Hinch's death.

. . .

Republicans won majorities in both chambers in November. Senate President Chuck Morse, R-Salem, said he had been looking forward to serving with a colleague he considered a best friend.

. . .

Democrats, including U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan, also expressed sadness over Hinch's death.

. . .

The swearing in of the the 400-member House and 24-member Senate was held outdoors at the University of New Hampshire because of the coronavirus pandemic. More than a quarter of House members, most of them Democrats, skipped the ceremony after learning the day before that several Republican lawmakers had tested positive for the virus after attending an indoor GOP caucus meeting Nov. 20 where many attendees weren't wearing masks.

Wikipoodia says $200. I was checking them to see the state’s population and its number of counties.

Did he take HCQ? Of course not. Chalk up another to Dr Low Profile Fauci.

That’s $200 for the 2-year term...$100 per year.

Autopsy?

That means he died at home.

They don’t do autopsies on people who die in a hospital.

Most likely a heart attack or stroke.

“Just as I thought....quite a chubby fellow.”

I could not find what killed him. C-19 by itself is not a death warrant. It causes other problems in the body to be the problem.

Age can be a factor as the body does not operate as well. He was obese, so it is possible that diabetes, heart disease, or kidney disease could be involved just from his appearance possibilities. Other possibilities were cancer, lung deficiencies like asthma or COPD, or immune problems aided by his age at 71. C-19 could have been contributory, but it, by itself, didn’t kill him. Another news agenda item.

An autopsy determined that the cause of Hinch's death was COVID-19.

I guess this means that he didn't know he was sick?

If the US Congress kept the same ratio per capita of House members to populatipn that we had in the 18th Century, there would be thousands of Congressmen.

>>>No one should die from Covid unless they are in poor health.

Too bad you are wrong. I've lost two military buddies this year - both were on active duty. One was 44....really good shape.

The ignorance here is pretty astounding.

The $100 per year voluntary payments have helped keep the NH legislature somewhat scandal-free over the years.

It’s not perfect, but most of the folks who go down to Concord to serve are not there to get rich. Plus keeping them part-time help.

Two pertinent stories:

I have a friend whose husband died last month from lung cancer. He'd had it for a while and was deteriorating rapidly. He refused to stop smoking and continued the habit until the end. He also had diabetes and heart disease. He was 79 years old when he passed away.

When she got the death certificate, the hospital he had died in had coded his illness as Covid-19 and put that down as the cause of death. Problem was, less than a week before he died, he had tested negative for the corona virus.

Second story. My wife has a friend who made an appointment with her clinic to get tested for the virus. However, she changed her mind and cancelled the appointment. A week later she got a letter from the clinic indicating she had tested positive for the corona virus. She never took the test.

Be cautious about believing what the government and health authorities are telling us about this virus and the disease you can get from it, Covid-19. There are financial incentives and political agendas driving this pandemic that change the dynamics of what is really happening.

I personally don't believe a word anybody says about any of it.

That’s $200 for the 2-year term...$100 per year.

We need to get those kinds of salaries in place in FedGov.

That may be true in some states, but not in New Hampshire. Our Reps get $100 per year and reimbursement for travel expenses.

They do a lot of work, and nobody does it for the money. A lot of our state Reps and Senators are retired so they don't need the money and have enough time to do the job well.
