The Associated Press says voters in five states have approved measures to legalize medical or recreational marijuana, or both, in Tuesday’s election.
Voters in Arizona, New Jersey, Montana and South Dakota voted to legalize recreational marijuana for people ages 21 or older, joining 11 other states and Washington, D.C.
South Dakotans also approved a measure to establish a medical marijuana program in the state for “individuals with a debilitating medical condition.”
According to the Marijuana Policy Project, that makes South Dakota the first state to legalize medical and adult-use marijuana on the same day.
In Mississippi, two versions of a medical marijuana amendment were on the ballot. One proposed allowing doctors in the state to prescribe medical marijuana to people with certain conditions, while the other restricted the program to terminally ill patients. Voters were required to weigh in on both, and the first option won out.
Medical marijuana was previously legal in 33 states and Washington, D.C., and several states have declared dispensaries “essential” businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.
Other states also made strides toward relaxing drug laws. Voters in Oregon supported a measure decriminalizing drug possession, including cocaine and heroin, and another legalizing the therapeutic use of psilocybin mushrooms. Washington, D.C., also approved measures to reduce the enforcement of laws against psilocybin mushrooms and other psychedelic plants.
According to Market Watch, Tuesday’s sweep means that one-third of Americans now live in states that have approved the sale of recreational cannabis.

That is good. However, I would like to know with all this legalization of marajuana going on, what about those of us who get very negative reactions from the smoke. The skin litreally starts crawling off my body when smelling that s**t, a very unnerving reaction. Where are we supposed to go if smoking this quap is legal?
No, it does not. Black market marijuana has increased, not decreased, in states where it is decriminalized.
Pot is just one more way to make everyone stupid and less motivated.
When a population is stupid and unmotivated, they are easily controlled.

The federal “gubbermint” won’t be able to keep it illegal.
Two reasons it remains illegal. 1. It’s inculcated institutionally and government resists change. 2. Federal and local law enforcement uses this as a cash cow to fund special task forces etc., or to run up numbers on what they accomplish.
No one truly believes in the mission, either that you can win some war on drugs, or that pot is some horrible addictive drug that causes harm. Pot is one of the most studied substances there is, ever. You can’t overdose easily. It doesn’t make folks aggressive or irrational in a dangerous way. It isn’t really addictive. It isn’t really harmful. Frigging Tylenol kills more people every year than pot: fact check that, please.

It might be that we are creating our own new drug cartels domestically - corporations that sponsor legal changes (which their lobbyists draft), that allow them to corner State markets, for the marijuana products they supply.
Then ban Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime movies... Mass entertainment where kids spend 4 hours in front of a computer every day playing games is far worse.
What percent of the media on Netflix watched is educational or culturally enlightening? Pot is like a drink. Some people drink to much and those wanting prohibition focus on that, but this argument is BS. Pot is safer than booze or tobacco and in some cases can have medicinal uses. You can’t logically argue for legal booze and tobacco but want pot banned.

A Presidential Administration could just administratively re-classify (”de-list”) Marijuana from Schedule 1 (high abuse potential, no medical use, like LSD or heroin) to a lower level (like Xanax or Testosterone).
That action alone would have huge effects.
