Do masks protect against Chinese coronavirus and reduce its spread — or are they, as their critics maintain, mere empty gesture politics?
A major study which might finally have answered this question has been postponed indefinitely after three of the world’s top three medical journals mysteriously declined to publish it.
Danish newspaper Berlingske reports:
The researchers behind a large and unique Danish study on the effect of wearing a mask are having great difficulty in getting their research results published. One of the participating professors in the study admits that the still secret research result could be perceived as ‘controversial’.
For weeks, the media and researchers around the world have been waiting with increasing impatience for the publication of a large Danish study on the effect – or lack thereof – of wearing a mask in a public space during the corona pandemic.
Now one of the researchers who has been involved in the study has said that the finished research result has been rejected by at least three of the world’s leading medical journals.
These include the Lancet, the New England Journal of Medicine and the American Medical Association’s journal JAMA.
“They all said no,” says the Chief Physician in the Research Department at North Zealand Hospital, Professor Christian Torp-Pedersen.
However, the Professor does not wish to disclose the journals’ reasoning.
One of the study’s co-authors, Henrik Ullum, has tweeted that the authors are all ‘very unhappy’ about the delay of their study.

Children are most susceptible for the sore throats.
I would imagine though, that *elderly* and *immuno-compromised* individuals would benefit from wearing sanitary, surgical type masks yes?
So masks shouldn’t be mandated, but elderly and immuno compromised should be recommended to wear them (surgical grade) when out in public. That’s my view.

Masks really reduce aeration.
This all adds up to one thing, obvious to me but apparently not to many others.
The mask thing is a hoax and is wrapped around the politically-correct axle. Masks are meant to be a shot over the bow to subject the populace to tyranny and get them used to it. One more step towards the Leftist dream of Worldwide Totalitarian Government. The populace is obeying just like the Tyrants wished.
Masks are politically motivated, NOT medically motivated.
It's an empty gesture designed to make people feel good. It makes them feel in control. Most of all, it makes them feel better about themselves.
And that, "We will follow the science"? It's was the lefist's sugar mixed with the poison diktat to make people feel superior to those who refuse to wear masks.

Masks have been used for over 100 years. Just because Dr Fauci says they’re bad now we go with whatever he says?
I always get a soar throat when I wear a mask. Even for just a few hours.
Second I broke my ankle requiring $20,000 worth of surgery. I attribute that accident directly to the mask mandate. Vision obstructed looking downward to the steps and slightly fogged glasses. Needless to say, it really ticked me off! 12 weeks and still not able to really walk. Did I mention I am angry? Cost me $12,000 worth of income too boot.

The multi-million dollar COVID-19 question in my non-medical mind is this. Is Big Pharma trying to win nice, big vaccine contracts with the governments to treat what may amount to a pandemic vitamin D3 deficiency, especially among artificial lighting urbanites in winter?
D3 should also help fight flu in my non-medical opinion.

The entire medical establishment has said they are our number one tool in the fight against what they hyped up to be a merciless and relentless killer. Now it turns out that (1) their prognostications that it was a death sentence were wrong and (2) their top advice is being suggested to be actually harmful.
Lots of reputations at stake, and they are the ones who decide what gets published.
You need to follow more closely. at the beginning of this Dr. Fauci she came out and said Max were bad and only hospital workers in the very wealthy should use them. He said masked were dangerous then.
I am both elderly and immuno-compromised, and I never wear a mask unless forced. Neither do any of the other geezers who frequent the grill for breakfast.
It used to be “settled science” that ordinary masks didn’t impede the transmission of viri. Now, suddenly, they do. Whiskey tango foxtrot, Oscar?
Statistically, I am at risk from influenza, pneumonia—the whole laundry list. But wait: flu is down by 98% this year. What’s up with that? Couldn’t be that a bunch of the reported “covid” deaths are actually the flu?
Couldn’t be that this whole covid scamdemic is just a leftwad plot, could it?
I don’t know what will finally take me out, probably in the fairly near future, but I hope it will have something to do with defending the constitution against domestic enemies.

You are re-breathing your own carbon dioxide, which is taken into the red blood cells displacing oxygen. A local doctor was on a radio talk show recently. He put his oxygen meter on his finger, then put on a mask. In a couple of minutes his blood oxygen level went down several points. I then asked waitresses in a restaurant what they experienced after wearing their masks for a while. Many said headaches, drowsiness, and dizziness. I am an Industrial Hygienist, and I have monitored processes that used CO2. Headaches and sleepiness are common effects of over exposure.
This is most commonly seen when the A/C in a building doesn’t provide enough make-up air for the number of occupants, resulting in CO2 levels going up.
That’s looking in the wrong direction for how masks work. An uninfected person wearing a mask gains minimal protection. The value of the mask is that it reduces the volume and range of the respiratory droplets that carry SARS-CoV-2 FROM an already infected person’s nose and mouth.
Everyone expels respiratory droplets while breathing, speaking, singing, coughing, or sneezing. You can only see the largest of them (>50um). By trapping those droplets, masks reduce the risk of people who are infected (most of whom will show only mild or no symptoms at all) from infecting others. Your recommendation doesn’t make any sense.
