In the past, I have posted articles about this problem and it appears that the situation is not improving, even though professors have become more aware of it. There is still a great temptation for professors and PhD candidates to cut corners and manufacture results that will get published and gain them more status, and perhaps tenure. Their ego and their greed do not disappear simply because they work in vaunted world of academia. One of my best Christian friends, a now retired history professor from the U of MN, has often regaled me with stories of the pettiness, greed and ignorance of his politically-correct colleagues. It makes me just shake my head in wonder and dismay at the dismal state of our educational institutions.

What it renders down to is an old Heinlein quote. "If you can't show the numbers, it's opinion."
And "social" science is the most vague of all. To even call these studies "science" is to give more credit than they are due.

which later turns out to have been a waste of time for everyone involved.
It payed off big time. Professorships, government grants, all the college girls and boys they could get their hands on, etc. etc. etc. Just follow the grant money.

In 1998, psychologists found evidence of a tantalizing theory: We all have a finite mental store of energy for self-control and decision-making. Resisting temptations, or making tough decisions, saps this energy over time

Self control is like anything else, the more you exercise it the stronger it becomes and the finer control you have.

During the 1990s, Dr. Richard Gelles showed with a study that many feminist research projects and reports were biased. It was ignored by the many lobbies and institutions that were pushing legislation and policies that have since negatively and severely affected our economy, families and security (crime).
