Call it the don’t-touch-anything strategy.
Team Biden knows they’re ahead against President Trump, with national polls showing Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden above the 50 percent mark. And with under three weeks to go until Election Day, the campaign has been doing just enough to keep things where they are as the clock ticks down to Nov. 3.
“They don’t want to break anything in the last three weeks,” said one Democratic strategist. “If the election were held today, they would win. They know it, and more importantly, Trump knows it.”
“To put it simply, they’re winning,” the strategist added. “And they don’t need to do much. They need to firm up their support and call it a game.”
In recent weeks, Biden has been traveling more than he had earlier in the pandemic — making short trips to key battleground states as he did on Tuesday when he traveled to Florida — but his campaign has usually limited events to one speech a day. Those speeches are largely the same and his campaign has all but avoided long-ranging, sit-down national interviews where he could be asked a prickly question. And last week, when Biden got into a political standoff with Trump over the format of the second debate, it was Biden’s team that said take it or leave it.
Chris Lehane, a Democratic presidential campaign veteran, said that “while Team Biden is indeed milking the clock, importantly they are not sitting on the ball but looking to score when there is an open shot.”
“And given the other team does not really seem to have an especially fulsome defense, there are a lot of open layups,” he added.
A string of recent polls show Biden well ahead of Trump nationally and in key battleground states.

For what? They are losing and their voter fraud scheme is being taken away.
Winning by running out the clock only works if you have the lead.
It sounds a lot like the Hillary strategy in 2016.
Hoping to win in the courts or by getting a long enough delay to get Pelosi in as temp president.
The clock has ran out on Joe Biden’s campaign. There is no amount of speeches, commercials or fake media polls that can pull the struggling Biden campaign across the finish line.
Trump is sailing to victory.
Biden is being boat raced.
It was previously known as the Hillary strategy. What makes it new is the hundreds of lawyers they hired to dispute every single state after they lose.
Yeah that’s why they keep Joe protected and any appearance has a script on a teleprompter.

That struck me too. All the polls showed Hillary with a comfortable lead. Some had Hillary ahead by double digits. But we saw the result on election day.
Some of the polls don’t make sense with each other. For example, some recent polls show Trump with job approvals at or near 50%, some of the highest job approval ratings of his presidency. Yet to believe some of these polls, we would have to believe that big numbers of people who approve of Trump are going to vote for Biden instead. I find that hard to believe.
The strategy is to keep Biden - and especially the unlikeable Harris - hidden b/c Biden’s dementia is worsening to the point where even the media are reporting it.
Harris is just plain angry and disagreeable.
I guess whoever wrote this doesn’t understand that you run out the clock when you are winning. 56% say they are better than off now than four years ago 56% say Trump will win 66% of Catholics 16% of Blacks 35% of Hispanics 34 point enthusiasm gap in Trump’s favor 33,000 car pro Trump parade unemployment lower than when Obama was reelected approval numbers 3 points above average reelected and a 32% GDP coming just before Election Day.
Biden still has to occasionally come out on the field in the 4th quarter. However, he does worse than fumble each time he is in public.
Hiden Biden, part of the Hidey/Hoe campaign, won’t GOTV if his party is sound asleep.

Hillary didn’t campaign because she was so arrogant that she believed the media and their made up polls.
Biden cannot physically campaign. He shuts down access to the media at 9 AM.
Very strange election. It’s like they want to lose.
They will fail there too. They are up against odds you will not believe. Consider the media to be Baghdad Bob at this point.
When your candidate is a disaster every time he opens his mouth, this becomes your only strategy.
The more people saw Hillary, the less they liked her.
The more people see Harris, the less they like her.
The more people see Biden, the less they think he’s fit for the office.
The Democrats have a real problem. No one really likes them and they know it but they won’t change.

I agree. Various women in my life, who are admittedly conservative leaning, all cannot stand Kamala Harris.
I think most of us believe that in political campaigns, being nasty and not likeable can affect people’s votes, much more than whatever policy positions such candidates may be pushing.
