WSB radio just announced Trump will not participate in the virtual debate next week. That's all I have so far.

Edited to add:

Pres Trump: "I'm not going to waste my time on a virtual debate." Fox Business interview with Maria Bartiromo

BTW, I dont think that was a 'wire' in the sense of a way to feed Biden lines. If its not in his ear, how would they message, by Morse code? My guess is it is either medically related, or maybe a STEM system that he was using to keep himself from falling asleep since the debates were after his bedtime...

Do NOT do virtual debate. Biden’s illness is being protected, he must appear in person.

While raising our children my wife and I learned to do “what if” questions on how we would react to certain behaviors so that we had a united front. We would brainstorm things like what if they were late on their curfew. When it happened we had an immediate response based on our prior discussion.

I assume the campaign does similar work.

I completely support this decision. I would have to question anyone who would knowingly participate in a rigged game.

My reply to yours was written before having read this one because I wanted to make it clear that I was aware of some positive movements by Trafalgar which I described as "straws in the wind."

If you're wondering why I am so punctilious about these matters, it is because I am chronically accused of being anti-Trump merely for citing adverse polls. That is not being anti-Trump, that is looking soberly at the battlescape

I was wondering about that too.
Not doing any more “debates” is a win win for Trump.
Just concentrate on organizing effective rallies from next week and go hard at it nonstop till Nov 3.

You do not want to entertain a counter to your point of view. Yours is entirely negative toward Trump’s viewpoint. So be it. I won’t waste time with someone whose mind is closed.

My mind is not closed, it is yearning for some convincing explanation. That I do not agree with yours doesn't mean I have a closed mind it could mean that your explanation is not persuasive.

” I’ve been in many negotiations where a party threatens to walk out and a revised offer is made by the other party.”

I am retired now, but for 35 years I was a litigation analyst in the insurance industry, and negotiations were a huge part of my job. There was no acceptance of an offer, and if there is no counter-offer there is no negotiation. Negotiation by its very definition means a process undertaken for the purpose of obtaining an agreement, or an acceptable conclusion or result. In the instant case, there was no such process.

Put another way: You go to a car dealership to look at cars. You look at the sticker price of one (an offer), shake your head and walk away and buy a bike. There is no negotiation, because there was no process towards an agreement. Now, if you had called over the salesperson and told him or her that if the sticker price is reduced by 10% a sale could be achieved, a negotiation would have commenced.

The biggest plan, and this could be a bluff, was spoken about on NPR today that they will make a commercial full of people who lost family members to COVID-19.

Virtual debate = Biden looks better, and we can cut your mic off whenever we want.

Good for the president! When he tests negative to the China Rona, and they stick with a virtual debate, Biden looks even weaker. Also, no Trump, no debate. Loss of revenue. Trump walks away from yet another “deal”.....only to do a very large and enthusiastic “peaceful protest”!

In the end, Trump gets the stage and publicity, and Biden sits in his basement with his big face diaper protecting him.

This is not a first year law school contracts scenario, this is a question about what is in the best interests of the Trump campaign and that means whether the decision most likely advances his election.
So far I see no cogent reason for him to relinquish the opportunity to try to improve himself in a situation in which he is losing at the polls as far as we know. He further risks looking petulant. This comes in the wake of refusing to bargain anymore with Nancy Pelosi over Corona virus subsidies. He runs the risk of looking too much like Caesar in a media environment that longs for the Ides of March.
...
Fact: Pelosi knows they have a winning hand; and her base (Biden, Harris’ base) are solid; they don’t care about stimulus, most are paid rioters paid by Soros, et al. Knowing they don’t care about stimulus, and, Pelosi isn’t yielding...why continue?

If one knows one’s internal polls and beyond a shadow of a doubt, knows he will win, turn the tables...throw in a wild card, unpredictable...

Continue negotiation after the election. What difference will be the MSM messaging?

I’m not sure why you don’t see these things...

In his opening remarks, he said that in the first debate, Chris Wallace was a disaster. AMEN to that.
