Recently, the State of Virginia has begun pushing forth new legislation which would prohibit officers from making what is termed as a pretextual stop. Pretextual stops are when an officer uses a mundane traffic violation to stop a vehicle because he or she believes there may be criminal activity afoot.
For instance, an officer may see a tag light out on a vehicle driven by a little old lady coming out of Walmart. That officer probably is not concerned that the woman driving is a criminal. However, spotting the tag light out on a vehicle that is coming out of a high crime area, the officer will make the stop to determine if criminal activity is afoot.
Now, the Virginia State lawmakers want to take that away from the police, in effect, killing a lot of proactive policing that keeps communities safe. Why? Because the idiot lawmakers in the state feel that police are using it in some manner to attack black people. Democratic State Senators Patrick Hope and Louise Lucas presented the bill. Hope said:
“A disproportionate number of people pulled over for minor traffic offenses tend to be people of color, this is a contributor to the higher incarceration rate among minorities.”
Now, a reasonable person would start to dig into the weeds on this claim, and see if the people who were stopped, regardless of race, actually committed criminal offenses, thus, ending up in jail. If blind to race, if the answer is yes, then the system works.

Inspection less than 4 mos DEAD
Loud mufflers
Tinted glass
broken lights/lenses etc
Why not get it over with and just STOP inspections.
Then again were they to do that a LOT of money would disappear from the state coffers, including repairs etc etc

I got stopped because my brake lights weren’t working. I can’t imagine if they weren’t allowed to do that.
The Democrats need to be able to travel around with their trafficked humans and drugs without risk of being pulled over.

That is an absolute fact. I've watched COPS for many years and that was often the case. The idiot criminals never bother to check their vehicles for defective tail lights, etc. Because of this BLM nonsense, the show has been cancelled because of so many blacks being busted.
The wife and I have commented on just about as many stupid rednecks doing the same thing and being arrested for the same offenses. We also noticed that the majority of domestic disturbances were by white trash.
Too bad it was cancelled, because the lame ass excuses both races made when busted made us laugh. "These aren't my pants"; "I don't know how that go into my purse"; "Somebody must have put that stuff in my car"; I just bought this car from some guy down the block"; "I ran because I didn't know who you were and was scared"
They all have similar excuses and they actually think the cops are going to buy into a hitchhiker leaving a gun on the floor board. Some of the segments were just hilarious. We especially loved it when a K-9 dragged a suspect out from his hidden spot. Great fun!
Gun sales up in Virginia? Pretty soon the cops will be required to post bail before they respond to calls.
Funny how we haven’t heard much of racial profiling in traffic enforcement. They won that battle, but now they’re trying to take it further — can’t use race and now can’t use an expired tag or burned out light.
What they deliberately ignored in racial profiling was that it was not racial but cultural/ behavioral/ high-crime area profiling. I know blacks who were pulled over for “DWB” — one of my black friends calls it not DWB but DWD for “driving with dreds”, but I don’t know anyone, black or white, who was put in jail for it. When it is (no one I know), it was from evidence, as Jay-Z admitted, found in the vehicle.
This will cost lives almost immediately.
What BS the Dems are doing to a former great state. Oh well, maybe Virginia voters will wise up...
I have practiced criminal defense for years. My advice to all aspiring criminals is always: “only commit one crime at a time.” For instance, if you are going to transport 15 pounds of meth in your trunk, don’t speed. If you are a felon with a gun in your car, come to a complete stop at all stop signs. Just rob a bank? Make sure all taillights are in working order. Crime isn’t THAT hard for people with a basic modicum of common sense. Fortunately for us, most of them are lacking and get caught...lol
