The Internal Revenue Service is investigating longtime National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre for possible criminal tax fraud related to his personal taxes, according to people familiar with the matter.
Mr. LaPierre was paid $2.2 million by the NRA in 2018, the most recent year available, the nonprofit groups public filings show. His total reported pay from 2014 to 2018 was $11.2 million.

Oh don’t get me wrong he needs to be sh*t canned to the side of the road so that the organization can move forward.
No, this was information the NRA released to members. He’s *proud* of ripping off the NRA - and he expelled anyone who called him on it, including Oliver North.
I am a small businessman. I try to capture all my expenses, and I think I do a pretty good job. Pick up some office supplies when I am at WalMart? Will I remember to circle the item on the invoice and throw it in the receipts bin? I’m sure I miss some of those.
But, anyway, from time to time I have to provide my tax returns and financial statements for loans. Some of those loans might have a government guarantee related to them.
And here is where I am walking a tightrope:
Overstate expenses - in trouble with the IRS.
Overstate income - in trouble with the Government lending insurer.
Boy, when I throw that package of Pilot pens in the shopping cart, I am living dangerously!
They only go after Republicans.
Our fabulous deep-state, like termites, never sleep...
Just keep munching away...
No exterminator in sight...
If they would corrupt a Pres[id]ent (Obama), a Pope (Francis the Heretic), and a Supreme Court Justice (Roberts), an NRA CEO just another name on a list.
I’m sure they will be investigating the Biden relatives for the same thing...oh wait...wrong universe again.
Thats a fair position to take.
Amen.
The NRA says he was 'expensing his suits' (claiming them as a deduction on his tax returns)?
I remember the whole incident. Chris Cox also lost his job at the NRA the same time as Oliver North. I would like to see both of them back at the NRA.
Been a member for 45 years of so. I still have my guns. I just sent another $100.00 to the NRA.
And of course, we have no choice but to defend the guy because the ones attacking him are even worse!
No, expensing them as one does with a corporation that employs you. You submit your expenses to the company and you pay them back. In this case, he was getting luxury suits and sending the bill to the NRA, among other things.
So do I, and I am a Life Member!
Wayne’s been pretty decent through the years. It was his push, that got us many more states with Shall Issue CCW permits.
However, all stars must retire. He should pick, groom, and appoint a successor.
I'm less critical of that particular item. As the public face of the NRA, I want him to look stellar.
Some of the other expenses can start getting into 'iffy' territory.
The IRS haS fully automatic military weapons, and we do not.
