Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.), perhaps unsatisfied with the misery of rolling blackouts to which ill-considered climate restrictions have subjected Californians, has ordered that no new gas-powered cars shall be sold in California beginning in the year 2035. What could possibly go wrong?
California “is phasing out the internal combustion engine,” the governor tweeted in announcing his sweeping executive order. “By 2035 every new car sold in CA will be an emission free vehicle. Cars shouldnt give our kids asthma. Make wildfires worse. Melt glaciers. Or raise sea levels.”
NEW: Were facing a climate crisis.
We need bold action.

Newsom’s executive order requires that “sales of all new passenger vehicles” must be “zero-emission by 2035.” Through the order, Newsom directed the Air Resources Board to develop regulations to ensure that “all operations of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles shall be 100 percent zero emission by 2045 where feasible.”
The governor’s office claimed that the transportation sector is responsible for more than half of California’s carbon pollution, 80 percent of smog-forming pollution, and 95 percent of “toxic diesel emissions.”
“This is the most impactful step our state can take to fight climate change,” Newsom said in a statement. “For too many decades, we have allowed cars to pollute the air that our children and families breathe. Californians shouldnt have to worry if our cars are giving our kids asthma. Our cars shouldnt make wildfires worse

California is already short of power. They claim to have 30% renewables, but thats only within California. Given that California must import a lot of electricity from Nevada and Oregon, its actually use of renewables is about 10%
Its also why they will continue to have worse and worse black-outs in the summer. If they refuse to build more power plants, they will need to rely on other states, who are also experiencing the same heat they are.
Part of the UN’s agenda (globalist one world government agenda) to completely make you enslaved, control where you live, how you will eat and where you will go (assuming you’re part of the group permitted to live).
Meaningless, ignore.
I hope Californians come to realize that it is a lot more practical and commonsensical to phase out Gavin Newsom instead...
So where does the Gov’nor get the power to invent legislation?
This ego-maniacal criminal of a governor is just setting up a new “pandemic” ... “Climate Change”. (He thinks this will help him win the presidency in 2024. He is wrong ...... again.)
Imagine all those electric cars trying to recharge when California already cannot meet its electric demand and is expert blackouts.
Overreach. California dictates a lot of the cost in our products because of their stupid regulations and the perceived need for businesses to do whatever they have to in order to stay in the huge CA market place. But there are limits to what they can dictate and force consumers everywhere else to pay more for. Banning gas powered cars - too far.
Just think of the hundreds of acres of deserts, hills and valleys that we the public, owners of the land are not allowed to use because we might 'damage' the eco system that they will joyfully cover with solar panels, wind turbines and battery farms all in the name of their deity Gaia.
The current grid cannot support night time charging of electric cars, even if they ban cooking, washing, internet, lights, after 5pm
RE: The current grid cannot support night time charging of electric cars, even if they ban cooking, washing, internet, lights, after 5pm
That’s why Newsom targets the year 2035, 15 years from now. He’s hoping that by then, the grid will “magically” have improved and been upgraded to be able to support the entire electric car infrastructure.
Notice that every single Greenie out there ( even AOC ) has a “target date” to achieve their utopia. In the meantime, to achieve this target, they’re going to need more money and of course more control and regulations.
im sure they exempted themselves as usual ..

This BullSheit “order” in a state plagued by some of the worst electrical utility service (with frequent blackouts) in America. The highest rates (due to the most CORRUPT “utility regulation”) and DECREASING electricity generating capacity (due to the state phasing out, shutting down existing power generators they don’t like politically and almost ZERO new hydropower generators in 50 years).
Sorry, Gov. Newsome, but until some governor has the cajones to buck all the free utility bribe money and CLEAN UP California’s filthy, rotten, corrupt “utility regulation” — you simply won’t have the practical ABILITY to stop using gasoline.
And we know YOU won’t clean up the “regulation” since the governor’s office, legislature, and ‘regulators’ are all on the take (and have been, to be fair, for many years prior to your election). It would take a real man to stand up to all that “political pressure”.... (free corrupt $$$$) being sucked up greedily by so many California politicians
Well, this does it. With the intermittent power supply, the road congestion in California will be eliminated. No electric power to charge these modes of transportation they will come to a stand-still.
“Imagine all those electric cars trying to recharge when California already cannot meet its electric demand and is expert blackouts.”
The absolute stupidity of the people who don’t realize they are just pushing the carbon emissions down the road to the petroleum powered utility plants is shocking, as is the fact no one is calling them out on this fallacy.
Oil companies should IMMEDIATELY announce that California blends will be phased out, ending in 2035.
There will have to be an exception for Hollywood, of course. Can’t make an action movie without a car chase.
This is the typical democrat “boldness”; making a ruling to be in effect long after the doofus is out of politics, or at least out of California, knowing it will never stand. Let someone else deal with it. A ban to take effect now or next year would be just a tad too “bold” for any dem, since the “bold” one would have to own it.
Anything done by executive order, can be undone by some future governor with another executive order - this is just virtue signaling at its worst.
Guess what stocks he owns
