The Almighty Gavin Newsom Orders New Gas-Powered Cars Banned by 2035; California is 'phasing out' the Internal Combustion Engine

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.), perhaps unsatisfied with the misery of rolling blackouts to which ill-considered climate restrictions have subjected Californians, has ordered that no new gas-powered cars shall be sold in California beginning in the year 2035. What could possibly go wrong?

California “is phasing out the internal combustion engine,” the governor tweeted in announcing his sweeping executive order. “By 2035 every new car sold in CA will be an emission free vehicle. Cars shouldn’t give our kids asthma. Make wildfires worse. Melt glaciers. Or raise sea levels.”

The executive order

Newsom’s executive order requires that “sales of all new passenger vehicles” must be “zero-emission by 2035.” Through the order, Newsom directed the Air Resources Board to develop regulations to ensure that “all operations of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles shall be 100 percent zero emission by 2045 where feasible.”

The governor’s office claimed that the transportation sector is responsible for more than half of California’s carbon pollution, 80 percent of smog-forming pollution, and 95 percent of “toxic diesel emissions.”

“This is the most impactful step our state can take to fight climate change,” Newsom said in a statement. “For too many decades, we have allowed cars to pollute the air that our children and families breathe. Californians shouldn’t have to worry if our cars are giving our kids asthma. Our cars shouldn’t make wildfires worse

FU Newsom!

People should form a clunker parade and drive around the governor 24/7 for a week in protest.

Honking all the way.

California will eventually be like Cuba, with folks doing what they can to keep their 2033 Toyota Camry and 2029 Ford F-150 running in the 2080s.

Gonna need a lot of electricity to do that. Many more fossil burning power plants.

Well, the U.S.A. isn’t called “the grand experiment” for nuttin’. We’ll just see if this wrecks their economy or not and whether people move out of Californication in multi-droves. I’ll keep my predictiono to myself.

Is this executive order legal???

Can the governor of California legally, by himself, ban the sale of gasoline powered cars???

I would love to see this tested in court. This strikes me as a situation in which the governor assumed powers he doesn’t have in that office.

Of course, the fawning media and liberals would never ask the question I just posed.

I’ve seen a few news stories on this, but none which question whether he even has the authority to do this.

So what does this do to tourism? Are tourist allowed to drive through the state?
Does this mean an end to all the gas stations in California? How many gas stations can survive on only tourism and trucking? As the gas stations go out of business; good luck getting gas for your lawn mower or propane for your BBQ.
Are Californians really this stupid?

Dumbass wants to turn CA into Cuba, where old junkers are meticulously kept up. He’s already taken CA half-way to Cuban socialism and this is just another nail in their coffin.

We need to change that title to the “gland experiment” given all the catering to the “trans community” of late. Pelosi’s former chauffeur might appreciate the new pronunciation.

Even an electric BBQ grill would put out a buncha smoke unless it was covered with a tight fitting lid, forced ventilation and electrically heated catalytic converters and/or particulate traps.

Wouldn’t that be fun?

A nuance missed by most is Newsome doesn’t have this authority and it can never be enforced.

Will CA refuse to allow out of state vehicles to be registered in CA? Will they prevent their travel there? Will they outlaw the sale of gasoline?

Multiple federal issues.

The proclamation is little more than political theater.

Well, they may “look” beautiful as long as the bondo and duct tape holding them together holds out.
