Amy Barrett — Immediately, If Not Sooner

President Trump has the right nominee at the right moment in American history.

When Ruth Bader Ginsburg died Friday evening, she did so with a message for posterity which, for all the history that Ginsburg might have made as a woman on the Supreme Court, was pristine in its self-description of her time on the Court.

“My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed,” she said.

The arrogance of that was par for Ginsburg’s course.

The fact that Republican women haven’t been represented on the Supreme Court since Sandra Day O’Connor rankles a bit; you’ve got to offer big parts of your base role models when you can.

Yes, yes, Ruth Bader Ginsburg lived an interesting life, and yes, yes, she was an accomplished woman. Those things are beside the point. It is neither ghoulish nor inappropriate to look to the future of the United States Supreme Court upon her death rather than pay tribute to the life she lived. After all, that life was for all practical purposes long since over months ago, when Ginsburg chose to spend her time on death’s door occupying space on the Supreme Court in an effort to outlast President Trump. And Ginsburg practically begged us to engage in nominatorial exegesis upon her death with the unfortunate quote referenced above.

That her gambit failed, despite practically every responsible pundit and political voice in the country either whispering or shouting the lack of wisdom involved in Ginsburg persisting on the court long after she should have recognized her failing health and retired, is not the fault or responsibility of President Trump.

She was 87 years old, for crying out loud. Were Trump to be re-elected, did she honestly expect to linger on the Supreme Court until

I believe that was her most fervent wish, so she wouldn’t go down as letting Trump flip the court because her vanity had kept her from retiring in the middle of Obama’s second term!

Well Duh...The Anglican Church (The Church of England) ruled in Colonial Times. Catholics were actually banned in NYS at about the same time.

Lee is a total sellout on H1Bs, he’s the main force behind them.

Yes. She was a governor-named replacement for the McTurd seat.

Since when are presidents “installed”? That’s for dictators. Presidents are elected and then inaugurated. And this woman was supposedly one of the keenest minds ever?

I doubt she even said this. Nobody has a final “most fervent wish” such as that. Doesn’t ring true, even for RBG.

I doubt SHE said it, as well.

Somebody likely said it for her.

Another reason to have the confirmation hearings begin immediately is that Kamala Harris is on the Senate Judiciary Committee and will dominate, basically running her campaign from the hearing room.

I'd love to see Ted Cruz demand that Harris recuse herself from the confirmation hearings on the grounds that she would be directly impacted by the result as the Democrat Vice-Presidential nominee.

Of course, Harris will refuse.

Americans will get a very up-close view of her as she interrogates Amy Coney Barrett, and will not like what they see.

The hearings may just swing a lot of voters away from the Harris-Biden ticket.

The Senate voted 55-43 to confirm Barrett for the 7th Circuit, which included support from Democrats Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Tim Kaine of Virginia, and Joe Manchin of West Virginia.

Thanks for the info. I knew she wouldn’t be buried today...not only Rosh Hashana but the Sabbath...but I was afraid they were going to find a way to really stretch this out.

“Catholics were actually banned in NYS at about the same time.”

Pretty much banned before that, and not just in NYS. In the 1600s Pilgrims didn’t celebrate Christmas because they considered it a Catholic holiday/mass (ChristMAS).
