President Trump has the right nominee at the right moment in American history.
When Ruth Bader Ginsburg died Friday evening, she did so with a message for posterity which, for all the history that Ginsburg might have made as a woman on the Supreme Court, was pristine in its self-description of her time on the Court.
My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed, she said.
The arrogance of that was par for Ginsburgs course.
The fact that Republican women havent been represented on the Supreme Court since Sandra Day OConnor rankles a bit; youve got to offer big parts of your base role models when you can.
Yes, yes, Ruth Bader Ginsburg lived an interesting life, and yes, yes, she was an accomplished woman. Those things are beside the point. It is neither ghoulish nor inappropriate to look to the future of the United States Supreme Court upon her death rather than pay tribute to the life she lived. After all, that life was for all practical purposes long since over months ago, when Ginsburg chose to spend her time on deaths door occupying space on the Supreme Court in an effort to outlast President Trump. And Ginsburg practically begged us to engage in nominatorial exegesis upon her death with the unfortunate quote referenced above.
That her gambit failed, despite practically every responsible pundit and political voice in the country either whispering or shouting the lack of wisdom involved in Ginsburg persisting on the court long after she should have recognized her failing health and retired, is not the fault or responsibility of President Trump.
She was 87 years old, for crying out loud. Were Trump to be re-elected, did she honestly expect to linger on the Supreme Court until

Yes. Some have mentioned they doubt the veracity of that. At first there were claims of a letter.
.@GOP We were put in this position of power and importance to make decisions for the people who so proudly elected us, the most important of which has long been considered to be the selection of United States Supreme Court Justices. We have this obligation, without delay!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 19, 2020
When is her funeral?
Arlington is burial location.
Thank you. She could have resigned under Obama. She didn’t. Tough luck.
Trump can get 50 of the 53 senators to vote for his pick. I am optimistic about election day but why take a chance?
What’s her great claim to the seat?
That she’s female?
I heard the funeral will be next week.
I am not so sure it will fail. First, it is questionable whether senators Murkowski, Collins and Romney will go along with a pre-election confirmation.
Second, Sen. Schumer's restatement of RBG's wish may imply that the Dems are prepared to do whatever is necessary to make sure Donald Trump does not succeed to a second term.
The Rats are threatening when Biden wins to change Supreme Court to 13 and PACK it with LIBTURDS.
She wanted to swear Hillary in as President. The photo-ops would be historic, a woman justice swearing in the first woman president. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out the way you want.
Oh and yeah, Ruth, it is not your seat on the SCOTUS, it is our seat.
But Amy Coney Barrett had that Privilege Disease.
How many years can a funeral be put off?
Monday would be great. Just a weekend of tributes.
The funeral is private and likely Monday. But I’m sure there will be Dem DEMONstrations at the USSC courthouse.
She was at least nominally Jewish, so the funeral is supposed to be held within 24 hours. However, modern practice permits the time necessary for making arrangements, travel, etc.
I think they plan to drag it out as long as possible.
She was a violent anti-Trumper.
No doubt, until Barrett is confirmed.
Trump putting Cruz on the list was a message for Cruz to start thinking about what he wants to do. We need that Senate seat right now.
This woman is definitely my pick for the Supreme Court. She has a Ginsberg-like determination but comes from a Constitutional view of the law, where Judge Ginsberg was a judicial activist based on her own opinions. Any woman who can combine the Motherhood of 7 kids with such a stellar career without an elitist background and Ivy League support should get 100% of the US Senate vote. This was a very informative article..Many thanks!
