Trump campaign hits back on Biden's claims of 'K-shaped' economic recovery
Fox News ^ | 09.07.2020 | Andrew O'Reilly

The Trump campaign hit back on Sunday on the Biden camp’s questioning of the economic recovery amid the coronavirus pandemic – slamming Biden’s handling of the economy during his time as vice president and trying to tie the Democratic candidate in with his party’s more progressive wing.

Tim Murtaugh, the communications director for the Trump campaign, defended the White House’s efforts to jumpstart an ailing U.S. economy during the public health crisis and warned that if Biden is elected he would “kill the recovery.”

“It’s going to be a very clear choice,” Murtaugh told Fox News, adding that Biden will raise taxes and implement policies under the Green New Deal.

Murtaugh’s comments come as the Biden campaign has seized on comments from some economists who have described the economy recovery as “K-shaped.”

"Folks have to ask themselves: Is this recovery working for you?" Biden campaign senior adviser Symone Sanders said earlier on "Fox News Sunday." "It is going well, going up for folks at the top, but for folks who are middle class or below, it is going down."

While a recent Department of Labor report found that the U.S. regained 1.4 million jobs in August, Sanders cast doubt on whether the economy is truly getting better for much of the country, particularly middle-class and low-income families.

Sanders went on to say that the recovery is not going well for working families, stating that many small businesses remain closed and those who have gone back to work but whose jobs do not allow them to work remotely are at a higher risk of catching coronavirus.

When asked about the “K-shaped” recovery, Murtaugh balked that working-class and middle-class Americans – many of whom voted for Trump in 2016 – are not benefiting from a rebounding economy.

The best thing you can do for the economy is to bring back jobs to our shores (Obama's magic wand). President Trump is the only President who has and will continue to do this. Forget about CRAZY Joe.

Side Bar Info: Today is Labor Day as all Americans know. It is also a magnificent political campaign day where various politicians get out and about their faithful followers and preach the party line to hundreds, if not thousands of cheering supporters. Of course The Trump/Pence will do well in carrying out this task, but, I noticed this morning that both Joe Biden & Kamala Harris are not meeting with “The American People” today in Rallies, but that they have opted to just meet with Labor Leaders only.

I suspect, and I believe it will be clearly spelled out during this week, that they are incapable of attracting common American folks to any of their political rallies. It should be quite an interesting week, as Trump in Florida Tuesday, & is also holding a massive airport rally on Tuesday, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina during the evening hours. It will be quite revealing to follow the political rallies of both sides as this week progresses!!! Stay tuned...folks!!!

FOX had Semone Sanders on all day yesterday flapping her lips to softball leading questions and quickly changing talking point on anything she did not want to address. When she wasn’t on they were running clips of Biden being angry about Trump call war dead vets losers. FOX is pushing Biden to the forefront in time dedicated to him in a positive manner. AND Chris Wallace will moderate the first Trump/Biden debate. Donna Brazil is surely getting the list of questions up and ready to give to Biden before the election. Rant over.

I wouldn’t worry to much about Biden as he appears to be running in third place as the only yard signs i see are Trump and sweet corn for sale.

Actually in some places, Biden is running in fourth place. “Yard Sale” and “Sweet Corn” are duking it out for 2nd.

The US unemployment rate was 8.4% in August and I am amazed if only 8.4% of US jobs are not essential.

I'm guessing that non-essential jobs tend to be concentrated in Democrat-predominant sectors, like sports and entertainment.

Maybe Hollywood fat-cat donors have not been as generous to Biden as they have been in past elections?

The article doesn’t bother to tell us what the linguistic barbarism “K-shaped recovery” means, so I have no idea what “K-shaped recovery” is trying to say. Splain me please.

I guess they don’t believe middle-class Americans have been affected by getting to go back to work and having the value of their 401ks getting back to pre-pandemic levels.

Bullshit. Only people not working at this point are the ones living in states with Democrat governors. The same governors who ARE KEEPING THEIR RESTAURANTS CLOSED!! Otherwise you’d see a 5.5% unemployment instead of 8.5%
