Jeff the Blue Shed Man is certainly entertaining during a bad hurricane.

What's up with the stranded storm chasers at Holly Beach?

Lol..no problem! It’s not that the C-130’s can help in hurricanes so much, it’s that they can transport large numbers of people in an emergency/crisis (or war).

In this case, I’m guessing they felt it would be quicker to get hundreds out this way than using alternate means- they won’t further clog the roads!

I have a rule: don’t tell other chaserdudes what to do.
(I’m a bad mentor.) Gonna break the rule today: Do not play
games with #LAURA. Large, intense hurricane, at night, over
marshlands is dangerous as hell. If chasing MICHAEL gave you
confidence, lose it. This one’s different.

Lake Charles has petro/chemical that going to take a beating also.
Essentially south of IH-10 from Houston east to Baton Rouge, La is
mostly flat marsh land very sparse wooded areas. Not a lot to stop
the wind, etc. Once it gets inland and North of IH-10 it will begin
to weaken much quicker.

It is always comforting to see the power company trucks staging before a storm, and the convoys after the storm.

Holly Beach is 25-30 miles south of I-10, due south of Sulphur. There are only 2 roads in or out. By now, both are underwater. Anyone who didn’t leave Holly Beach is trapped and very unlikely to survive. There is not a single building or structure in that area that will survive the storm surge they will see. Nothing.

East of Lake Charles would be a blessing for storm surge.

Katrina was a minor hurricane - the flooding occurred because the levees failed. The 40 miles inland has to be because of the rivers - a wall of water isn’t going to go 40 miles inland - it’s impossible. So, I’m assuming, the NHC is referring to the storm surge traveling up rivers and inundating the river shorelines.
