Jerry Falwell Jr., the son of late evangelical leader Jerry Falwell, revealed Sunday that his wife had an affair with a family friend that sent him into a depression he described as “like living on a roller coaster.”
The admission follows Falwell Jr. being placed on indefinite leave from his post as president of Liberty University two weeks ago, after a controversy surrounding a racy Instagram photo he had posted.
In a statement sent to the Washington Examiner, Falwell admitted that his wife, Becki Falwell, struck up an “inappropriate personal relationship” with a Florida pool boy who worked at one of the family’s properties.

So he’s going with the ‘she did it first’ defense?
Kinda threw the Mrs. under the bus, and backed up over her one or two times in that statement,
This is what happens when the heir in the family just happens to be the best possible leader an organization can find. [Not.] The odds are ZERO a child of the founder is the best candidate, and indicates the board is not interested in finding the best future leader through a search. But rather ‘keep-it-in-the family’. Then with consolidated power the new guy goes nutz, surrounded by yes men who don’t dare cross him.
Now we know why Fallwell released that picture - he know pool boy was coming so, give reason to step aside on some party picture story,vs pool boy story. At least he saved Liberty some acute pain..
Let’s assume this is true because if it isn’t, it will come out.
I believe that you should keep your personal laundry hidden. There is no need to put this out there in the public, UNLESS they are being blackmailed. If that is the case, it would have come with the “we are working with the FBI” line.
It comes off as weasel-y to publicize this. First, “family friend” and “pool boy” sure seem like two different people. Second, it seems like he’s throwing her under the bus to explain that picture that came out a couple of weeks ago.
If she cuckholded him, shame on her. I can understand wanting a pound of flesh in retribution. But shame on him for taking it.
Please don’t confuse them with facts. It hurts their pea brains.
Pointing out that Jerry Jr is an attorney, real estate guy and was president of Liberty University while his brother Jonathon is the pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church is more than many can handle.
FWIW, my landlord works at Liberty University and told me most of Jr’s problems have been self inflicted. He wouldn’t elaborate.
He did say the interim president is a retired pastor who built one the largest churches in Alaska and has served on the Liberty board for some time.

Jonathan the pastor seems to be squeaky clean. Haven’t heard a hint of scandal about him or his family ever.
One of the first churches to reopen after the lockdown Thomas Road developed a system where you sign up for a sermon time and attendance is limited to those the church can handle using social distancing guidelines.
Jonathan preaches three or more sermons each Sunday with associate pastors preaching another three.
What kind of world do we live in where a man is “required” (my term, not anyone else’s) to expose his family issues this way?

Probably Jerry Prevo. I lived in Alaska in the ‘70s and ‘80s, and Prevo had his huge church there, and was super active in the Moral Majority along with Jerry Falwell, Sr.
Just goes to show that Christians have no business owning swimming pools.
1. Its a waste of the resources God gave you.
2. Do you know what goes on in swimming pools?
3. Modern bathing suits are nothing more than underwear. I dare say your wife’s under garments are much larger than her bathing suit.
4. You will likely hire a pool boy who will be coveted by your wife and may in fact try to commit adultery with said pool boy. (i.e. Potipher’s wife)
Christian, if you have a swimming pool... either move or fill it in with sand.
Prevo is the the guy. I couldn’t remember the name until you brought it up.
My landlord said Prevo, having been on the board, knows the politics of the place and wants to return the U to it’s intended spiritual path, from which it had wandered during the tenure of Jr.
He had nothing but good things to say about Mr Prevo and thinks he will be good for the school.

Yes we knew something was off in that picture.
If this is true it helps me understand. More to come though. I mean why would you do a multi million dollar investment with a pool boy who schtupped your wife.
Even Falwell knows he ain’t NEVER coming back to Liberty U.
