Jerry Falwell Jr., the son of late evangelical leader Jerry Falwell, revealed Sunday that his wife had an affair with a family friend that sent him into a depression he described as like living on a roller coaster.
The admission follows Falwell Jr. being placed on indefinite leave from his post as president of Liberty University two weeks ago, after a controversy surrounding a racy Instagram photo he had posted.
In a statement sent to the Washington Examiner, Falwell admitted that his wife, Becki Falwell, struck up an inappropriate personal relationship with a Florida pool boy who worked at one of the familys properties.

Of course he does....he knew it all along and chose to delay the inevitable as long as possible. A lot of men would do likewise in a high profile position for obvious reasons. The fallout would be tremendous.
His wife sinned. That much is clear.
He took marriage vows. The Bible requires that he do everything possible to reconcile with her and to try and save his marriage.
Which will be nigh-impossible now that he’s outed her in such a public manner. That in itself is sinful.
Very sad when a marriage goes bad.
OMG. That made me laugh.
If you read the whole article he probably had to go public because he was being blackmailed.
Sounds a bit like they are swingers.
I read Franklin’s book, and he did settle down wonderfully.
If you’re being blackmailed, go to the police.
Better it come from them than to throw your spouse under the bus.
He just got a lot worse.
I agree with your statement. Except I would add “corrupt” to your “stupid or inept”.
Sounds like the university board knows lots and told him...you are gone....my guess is...he is ill...his wifes out lookin about...he knows it...and cannot deal with it..in his current state...be gone...come back if issues are resolved..
That may be true, but the general public doesn't now who Jonathon is. JF JR. is the one in the media, so he is seen as the representative for all of it.
Very well said.
I read today, that JR. was picked to be head of the University, because of his, “aggressive business instincts,” and Jonathan is minister of the church, because of his, “charisma and morally upstanding character.” Which makes it sound like the father knew the former had issues.
“That may be true, but the general public doesn’t now who Jonathon is. JF JR. is the one in the media, so he is seen as the representative for all of it.”
You have a point.
I blame the Left Wing Media for it. Sloppy “journalism”, the desire to destroy anything at anytime, and the deep seated desire of the older generation to strike out at Jerry Sr for his work with the Moral Majority and other things.
Why take the effort to get the story right when they can smear more with the broad brush.
“Which makes it sound like the father knew the former had issues.”
That could be.
More likely was Sr remembered the fallout from the Jim and Tammy Baker scandal from years before.
When Jim Baker fell he took a lot of other churches and church based schools with him.
Donations and funding to the then Liberty Baptist College dried up and the school almost went under. Sr had to tap every available source for money. He even took loans from the extended Falwell clan just to keep the schools doors open. They even resorted to accepting students that a year before wouldn’t have made the cut.
During all that the church had to tighten it’s belt but was never in danger.
I suspect Sr knew he needed a shark at the U and had one right in the family.
Sr weren’t near as simple as some portrayed him.
We thank God everyday for ours and I am the pool boy, the most excellent, one and only pool boy of our pool.
Caww, can we assume you’re a woman then? Always thought of you as a man.
