New audio from the Goodyear training on their zero-tolerance policy

New audio from the training at the Topeka Goodyear plant gives more details about what was talked about in that meeting, including updates on their zero-tolerance policy.

The meeting has come into question after a photo of a slide showed what is and isn’t acceptable in the workplace.

13 NEWS-WIBW obtained an audio recording of the presentation. The speaker referenced instances of racial graffiti in the locker room, and detailed what is and is not allowed under the company’s zero-tolerance policy.

“Some people may wish to express their views on social justice or inequity or equity issues such as black lives matter or LGBTQ pride on their face coverings, shirts or wristbands. That will be deemed approved because it applies with a zero-tolerance stance,” the speaker said during the meeting. “However if any associate wears all, blue, white lives matter shirts or face coverings, that will be not appropriate.”

They didn’t have to worry about social distancing at that one.

The former television production / engineer (ish) in me cringes hearing tape and film/filmed generated by modern era digital devices.

Probably going to continue long after nobody still living would have actually used a tape or film recording device. :P

No doubt.

I like vintage vehicles and such but I do not miss film cameras, video cassettes, VCRs, reel to reel audio, and slide projectors.

Goodyear in Lincoln Nebraska was one of my customers. You don’t do ANYTHING there that goes against union policy.
I one time showed up with a large mold that I delivered ASAP after rework, drove straight through from Michigan and I had it in the front of the truck because it was about 3k lbs. for safety.
I had a chain around the skid out the back of the truck to drag it close enough for the forks of the fork lift to grab it. It took 3 HOURS to find someone to walk over, take the end of the chain, and attach it to drag it back. Only a qualified UNION rigger is capable of touching a chain, the fork lift driver just sat there for the entire time doing NOTHING but watching me.
I was so livid I swear if I knew it wasn’t going to hurt the back of the truck I’d have gotten going about 30 in reverse and left the mold where it fell. UAW actually runs the plants, and watching how it works there I can’t imagine how they make any money at all, and I assume its that way in every UAW run plant in the nation.

Y’all could put up a Xerox on the employee bulletin board informing them to use correct technical terms.

My parents had a delivery at the dock in Long Beach, CA (Shipworkers territory).

They pulled in and were backed up to the loading dock. My stepdad took all the tiedowns, etc. off and walked over to the guy standing at the warehouse door next to a forklift. Asked him to pull the load off so they could go to their next stop.

Guy said, "Sorry, I work warehouse, I am not ALLOWED to pull on to the dock at all. The loading doc guys just left for lunch."

An hour later a loading doc guy pulled up in a different fork lift, picked up the pallets, spun the fork around and placed the pallets at the door of the warehouse. Warehouse guy then pulled up and moved them into the warehouse.

Parents said the same thing - NEVER AGAIN!

I remember backing up to a dock and having to unload CO2 cylinders weighing ~280# each out of my pickup to the dock by myself while the fork lift guy sat and looked on refusing to help.

Goodyear has successfully wedged themselves between a rock and a hard place. They will get pounded from both sides.

Swift move. Go woke, go broke! This should be taught in every MBA school and every boardroom.

We sell stuff. No further comment.

Big corporations have been handed all kinds of stuff by Republican politicians for a long time, yet they actively wage war on social conservatives, Trump supporters, and the First Amendment, even as they outsource jobs to foreign countries.

Backed into loading dock in NYC and had a guard tell me I couldn’t park there and pointed to the sign saying Commercial Vehicles only...I had my POV Ford 250 van with Virginia tags and I said ‘How do you not know this isn’t a Comm’ tag he basically gave me the ‘look’ and said if it isn’t NY CT or NJ it isn’t commercial on MY dock.

Really worked out well as we (the company I was delivering for) had a NY office and I got paid New York waiting time, they sent their man to unload and deliver.

All the aftermath of 9/11 and anthrax wasn’t ‘bad’ as a lot of places (like the Pentagon) had an offsite delivery set up so didn’t have to really mess around with the Pentagon etal.

As to New York, I wouldn’t take anything to the City unless I could take it to the Regional office, which worked out well.

Quite a bit of my stuff in that area was at night so I would pull up and LOUDLY ask who was ready to go on a break and have a couple of 20s in my hand with half a 50 in the load.

All sorts of vols to unload MY truck.

(Had a 50 ripped in half and whoever gave it to me got a whole 50)

Made much more money at the turn of the century - not just in volume but in actual base rate.
