Headline only at this point
I believe Barr is full of it. he says one standard applies to everyone, but it clearly doesn’t. It only applies to us. Not a single antifa or BLM organizer or financier faaces a single charge though they violate a raft of federal laws.
None of the coup plotters faces charges... only one low level minion.
He is lying when he says one standard applies to everyone.
Dont be naive. Bannon did nothing wrong other than being a open supporter of Trump at election time.
Personally, I suspect the other knuckleheads might have drawn him in as they had more of a background and were involved in the mechanism. Easy money is a temptation
I stand by my position that contributions to “go fund me” are emotional contributions. The is little accountability in the system.
The timing of this indictment is clearly political. How many grand juries are working on non-violent / white collar crime in the middle of the pandemic. Answer: few to none. Somebody had to work hard to get this done prior to the election.
Also, I seriously doubt Bannon was handling all of the corporate details himself. I suspect a law firm structured the entire mess.
Finally, if we are going to go after non-profits for enriching their leaders, let’s do it across the board. Let’s include environmental groups and hospitals, for example.
Time to look at Black Lives Matters.
There was a reason to diss the Wounded Warrior project

A lot of these charities have issues..including..ahem..Red Cross.
Exactly! I just commented on their internal burn on their salaries and such.
Why are corrupt democrats never arrested? You telling me there were no Clinton schemes or Biden schemes?
How about the millions Rev AL owes the IRS?
WTF?
see post 51. it was tongue in cheek, snarky :)
Hillary, Biden, and Rev Al never did that/s
“As alleged, the defendants defrauded hundreds of thousands of donors, capitalizing on their interest in funding a border wall to raise millions of dollars, under the false pretense that all of that money would be spent on construction.
While repeatedly assuring donors that Brian Kolfage, the founder and public face of We Build the Wall, would not be paid a cent, the defendants secretly schemed to pass hundreds of thousands of dollars to Kolfage, which he used to fund his lavish lifestyle. “
One would have to know more specifics on what the funds diverted to Kolfage were used for.
Yes. The contrarian view would be that Bannon actually did tap the till here, and that this makes it harder for critics of DOJ to charge partisanship over Spygate.
But I have to admit....this stuff happens at a LOT of funds and charities as you rightly said....and Bannon somehow rocketed to the top of the case list.
“hundreds of thousands of dollars to Kolfage, which he used to fund his lavish lifestyle.”
I want to hear more about the “lavish lifestyle” of this triple amputee who had a rocket land 3 feet away from him in Iraq.
The media will implode when (if) Barr indicts Democrats in Sept/Oct. So political! So awful!
Yeah Jane NO ONE is above the law UNLESS you are a Dem OR a part of the Clinton foundation this is really reaching a boiling point I am beyond furious!! These BASTARDS have the audacity to indict a double amputee WAR VETERAN!!
Our local hospital (a non-profit) is a fund-raising machine that pays its CEO over a million dollars in salary. This kind of thing is the norm.
I seem to remember how the Kennedy extended family is funded by non-profits. I believe the big example was Robert Kennedy, Jr. and environmental groups.
They have to find him, first.
Finally, if we are going to go after non-profits for enriching their leaders, lets do it across the board. Lets include environmental groups and hospitals, for example.
Anything coming out of southern district NY is suspect, just like patent trolls having a preferred district in which to sue. That said, this doesnt surprise me. I supported the initial crowdfunding effort. I dont recall if I ever saw the refund Kolfage was required to offer when he changed plans and started up the organization involved in this case.
I don’t know how to donate to Trump without 30% going to the RNC. That’s what it says on their site.
Exactly. "Everyone else does it!" isn't an excuse. If they did it, then they have to pay the piper, period.
Did they get a closer look than others? Of course, and they should have known that Bannon brings baggage if that kind if there is money involved. This started in NY of course, but they had to have enough of a paper trail to get an indictment so maybe there was shenanigans going on and it's warranted.
