Without "much more aggressive shutdowns," a New York Times editorial warns, "well over a million" Americans "may ultimately die" from COVID-19. The paper does not cite a source for that estimate, which seems highly implausible based on the death toll so far, projections for the next few months, the gap between total infections and confirmed cases, and a crude case fatality rate that continues to fall.
Independent data scientist Youyang Gu, who has a good track record of predicting COVID-19 fatalities, is currently projecting about 231,000 deaths in the United States by November 1. The University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation projects 295,000 deaths by December 1. Assuming those projections prove to be about right, the Times is predicting that the death toll will quadruple during the months before an effective vaccine can be deployed, which might happen early next year.

Many people were caught off guard in March when the shut down happened and the store shelves were stripped bare.
We’ve been in a bit of a lull as the supply lines have been running, although, not to 100%.
However, I don’t expect it to last, especially once Sept rolls around. Now is the time, while we still have a few weeks to get ready.

Looking at the numbers day by day and I just don’t see it.
Unless they have a plan to start shipping the infected back into nursing homes.

They are guessing that there will be 231,000 deaths in the United States by November 1.
They are further guessing that — if their first guess is correct — the death toll will quadruple after Nov 1 while we wait for a vaccine.
They don’t know when a vaccine will be available, but they are guessing it will be available around about the time a million people have died.
That’s some solid reporting. Real settled science.
This is no longer the wuhanchinacoronacovidkungflu virus. It is the election year virus.
Total BS and Trump needs to call them out in his 5:30 presser today.
The problem, even admitted by Birx and Fauci, is that the vaccine will very likely have all the effective issues that the flu vaccine has, where the virus will mutate and adapt and the vaccine will have to be redone every six months, not to mention likely have a similar effective rate of 50 percent or less. At this point, it feels like drug treatments to alleviate symptoms quickly is the best we can do, similar to how we give out Tamiflu to get people well quicker.
If you look at the chart in the link you will see that excess deaths in the USA which are a little harder to fake are now below normal by a significant amount. And the excess deaths in previous months could easily be partially explained by shutting down medical facilities and preventing people from going to the hospital through fear and getting appropriate treatment for the real killers, cancer, heart disease, strokes and diabetes. This is not to mention that shutting down all the “health clubs” which do assist people with staying healthy through exercise likely also has a negative effect. I know my own parents who are in their 80s have declined markedly since not being able to go to the YMCA for several months.
The Left has finally found a way to instill fear itself into the country in order to outright destroy it.
Which has been their goal all along.
Frankly, the business of America is business, not to be safe.
