So this was not a fireworks/ammonium issue so much as a terrorist weapons issue.
Some random dude just happens to have his cell phone recorder trained on the exact location of the explosion as it occurs. I’m sure this was just a coincidence.
“...the explosion was of missiles recently delivered from Iran to Hezbollah.”
Would these missiles be Iranian-made, or purchased from Russia, China, North Korea? That would be interesting to know. Was one of them booby-trapped?
bump check out this.
I’m willing to guess that the explosives were destined for Hezbollah bombs and missiles.
But this article is deliberately false.
They say Netanyahu is pointing to the site of the explosion, but it’s 100% crystal clear that the spot he is pointing to is right next to the airport. He even says “here’s the airport”. The explosion happened on totally the other end of town.
I really hate idiot sites like CFP that take real news stories (like Netanyahu speaking about bomb factories in Beirut) and then lie through their teeth to get more clicks, and end up making the real news story seem suspect.
If Hezbollah were in charge of CFP this is exactly the sort of fake news article they would plant, and then point to when it later turns out that the explosives really were theirs.
Search TEXAS CITY EXPLOSION 1947 - Freighter being loaded with ammonium nitrate caught fire and exploded, set fire to another freighter filled with ammoniums bitrate fertilizer which exploded
Hundreds (some say thousands) killed in blasts and city was leveled
Also see Wikipedia - Halifax Explosion
The Halifax Explosion was a disaster that occurred in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, on the morning of 6 December 1917. SS Mont-Blanc, a French cargo ship laden with high explosives, collided with the Norwegian vessel SS Imo in the Narrows, a strait connecting the upper Halifax Harbour to Bedford Basin. A fire on board the French ship ignited her cargo, causing a massive explosion that devastated the Richmond district of Halifax. Approximately 2,000 people were killed by the blast, debris, fires, or collapsed buildings, and an estimated 9,000 others were injured.[1] The blast was the largest man-made explosion at the time,[2] releasing the equivalent energy of roughly 2.9 kilotons of TNT (12,000 GJ).[3]

Videos of the explosion clearly show a white fog spraying outwards just before the boom. This same phenomenon can be seen in many YouTube videos of LNG and Propane tank farm and truck explosions -

I do not believe ammonium nitrate is highly explosive...from my experience in using it in mining, it has to be mixed with diesel fuel and the explosive compound is ANFO, ammonium nitrate fuel oil which is highly explosive.
If confined and then heated to decomposition point will explode violently - especially if contaminated or mixed with combustible materials
Was explosion few years back in West Texas where warehouse filled with ammonium nitrate caught fire and exploded

BOOM!
that’s what I thought yesterday but what was happening was the original fire and small explosions, so many people had their cameras trained on the area. Then the giant blast happened
It was 2,750 tons of fertilizer.
Actually, AN is very stable u to it is heated to some 400 friend it decomposes into volatile gases and when it reaches about 550f, it deflagrates or explodes if you will at about a factor of .95 equiv of tnt.
No detonator or fuel additive rquired, just a suspicious fire....
ANFO is more efficient since the decpompositon gases of AN are H N and O, all looking for a C....
Also and more likely either condensate moisture inthe sea air or and the H2O produced by AN d eflagration.
Occams razor is your friend.
Nah! It's just Peaceful Fertilizer.
I am speculating that it was a Mossad operation. Would not take much to set off that much AN. Time delay micro bomb, flare or thermite would do the trick. Just need to get in and place it properly. Heck, if you know where it is at, putting a thermite grenade with a time delay fuse on the roof would do the trick in many cases.
They may well have been strong the AN for terror use, but how it got there was not terrorism, but typical Russian corruption.
It came from a ship that couldnt pay its fees. The crew sat on the boat for the better part of a year, while owner litigated.
Eventually, the boat got unloaded and the cargo sat there. There were multiple articles in the press about how dangerous the situation was.
This comes as no surprise to anyone involved.
CFP does this kind of reporting a lot- often embellishing or lying about facts. I’ve found many times they’ve distorted things to appeal to the right. It reminds me of the way the left reports. And I dislike it just as much- actually, more because I like facts- even when they don’t go “my way”.
Of course they were. But they miscalculated the size of the cache and killed way too many civilians.
To put it another way. :-)
I thought that was pretty obvious, regardless of the official response.
