Democrats are contemplating secession and potential civil war as they game out possible scenarios for a closely contested election, according to a report by Ben Smith in a New York Times column Sunday.
The bulk of Smith’s column is devoted to the question of how the media will handle Election Night coverage, given that the result may not be known for weeks. Vote-by-mail, which many states have only recently adopted — ostensibly, to prevent the spread of coronavirus in polling places — could lead to an uncertain result.

In one scenario, John Podesta — the former chair of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, and a leading figure in party circles — played former Vice President Joe Biden, and refused to concede the election.
The result: the threat of secession by the entire West Coast, followed by the possible intervention of the U.S. armed forces:

Should the West Coast secede, there would likely be an armed revolt in northeastern California by those seeking to create a new state called Jefferson. The State of Jefferson movement has been around for decades.
Last time there was a draft, nobody is going to want their sons or daughters drafted to bring California back.
I have history with Oregon, and my kids live there. They are not into this Portland/Eugene garbage at all. Once you get outside of these shitholes most Oregonians are really pretty decent folk. I would wager the same is true of Washington and CA. I refuse to even drive through Portland because something really, really bad might happen to the miscreants that block my car on the freeway and I don’t want to go to their jail.
Not before the PLA Navy was based in San Diego and SF Bay, not to mention Pearl Harbor (since this secession would obviously include Hawaii).
The fact that one of the two major political parties is actually discussing this is unbelievable but not unexpected...
Before the Civil War broke out the population in many Southern States wanted to secede.....in this modern day version of secession, it would not be that way....they’re large portions of CA, OR, and WA that would want no part of that.....
The military might need to be used, but in a way of an invasion or occupation....
Cut off those three states, blockade the ports, cut off any movement in/out of those states by land and basically starve them out.....it would turn to anarchy in a couple of days and the people out there would basically overthrow the state governments...
Democrats havent admitted they legitimately lost a presidential election since 1988.
They would immediately secede from California and remain with the union.
You casually write off lots of Americans.
CA is already a Mexican colony.
If California secedes, it will also divide, north and south.
Except for “NATIONAL” defense, not a bad idea to split the entire country into left vs right.
Trump would become Lincoln in this case and you do know who OWNS the military and police. Very important when it really COUNTS!
They tried, and tried hard, to overturn the election of 2016. But they drew the line at blood.
If you listen carefully to what they are saying about 2020, the line no longer exists. They will not countenance the re-election of Donald Trump, they have senior military commanders as allies, and they are warming up to fight.
In fact, this may be the point of running poor old Biden in the first place. If he wins, the war is off (expect this to be made crystal clear in the Fall). If he loses, there will be a military coup to install a leftist regime anyway.
The GOPe will surrender long before that is a reality. There’s no way they go to mat for Donald J. Trump.
Let them have everything West of the major fault lines.
They will be gone when the big one hits.
Yes the Chinese would be invited in almost immediately. The fledgling nation of WestCoastUtopia would need “Great Power “ protection. The Chinese would be there daring us to do something about it.
cut off their water.. and they would give up within a week.
ROFL
Oh, bert, I am most definitely an American. We all have reasons for living where we do (family, jobs, etc.) In which blessed to be an American state do you reside?
I lived in Portland in the summer of 1965, near Woodstock Blvd. and SE 28th Street and remember it as a clean, safe and vibrant city. I haven't been there since, and although I would like to go back and see the old neighborhood, it probably is no longer safe.
Not only let them go, help them go. Then build the Wall on the East side of California.
