AMC says that the theater company may not survive the Coronavirus Pandemic.

This week AMC officials announced that they were pushing back reopening. The chain had originally shut down in March due to COVID-19.

Hollywood has continued to delay releasing movies, as cases rise in parts of the U.S.

More people watching DVD’s at home; I’d rather sit back all comfy and watch some movies that were nicely done, not the garbage they’re putting out today.

I do have to say that I will miss movie theaters.

I like movies, and liked seeing them on the big screen once in a while.

Not that I think they should be bailed out.

“A truly great movie, The Irishman,”

...love “tough guy” movies. Goodfellas, Casino, Godfather et al. I’ve seen the 100x’s. I haven’t seen Irishman but just watched the trailer. Truly a great movie?

Isn’t AMC owned by the ChiComs?

Why subsidize them with American tax dollars and reward them for springing this on us in the first place?

For those of you who know what I’ve been working on for 10 years, namely setting up a family-friendly, but ENTERTAINING studio, you’ll know that these chains have lost a good 40% of their audiences through CONTENT.

Yes, the China Virus is going to seriously hurt. I think two chains (Cinemark and perhaps AMC) go away for good. That should not be celebrated. We need outlets for good movies, but right now we have few good movies.

Let me relate a true story with no names. A friend of a friend who had a GOOD track record making profitable and successful kids’ shows went to Amazon with the new pitch. It was a kind of combo kids show/game show that was interactive. Not my cup of tea, but I could see where it would be successful.

They sat down in front of a plump female exec who didn’t even let them get through the pitch: “We aren’t taking shows from white males. The age of Aryan supremacy is over.” (QUOTE). She then proceeded to tell them about two projects they greenlighted, a black homosexual young boy and his friends, and a lesbian teen and her friends.

THIS, not theater chains, is what must be eradicated.

Maybe if they just played classics from the 1950s-70s. One’s you rarely even see on cable now.

It has been well documented over the years that Hollywood prefers to make morally and socially deviant b-grade movies over more popular and more profitable family friendly movies.

The message is more important than the money.

Let Hollywood go belly up, we’ll be better off for it.

Wild horses couldn't drag me into a movie theater. In fact,I've been in a movie theater once in the last 25 years.I recently bought a fairly nice 4K TV and bluray player with which I can stream 4k youtube videos of African wildlife (one of my favorite subjects) and watch The Dark Knight,2001,Jurassic Park,Goodfellas,Lawrence of Arabia, various BBC Wildlife documentaries and many, many other classics in absolutely stunning 4K.

Move theaters to me are about as useful as the dial telephone.

Great memories of drive in theaters. My favorite drive in was the one beside a train track. Whenever a train came by the headlight on the locomotive would white out the screen until it passed.

Nope. You are not ‘entitled’ to stay in business, in a Capitalist society.

The irony is that Hollyweird libs are four-square in favor of the lockdowns.

Last week on Twitter, I was mocking some mouthy out-of-work Broadway Leftist who was trash-talking the go-back-to-school talk from the administration.

Asked him how the Broadway season was going.

That shut him down...
