In the four months since Joe Biden effectively won the Democratic presidential nomination, he has focused on consolidating the party's divergent and often warring factions. As the closing stretch of the campaign nears, that effort will expand to include Republicans disaffected with President Donald Trump.
Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a Republican and frequent Trump critic, has been approached and is expected to speak at the Democratic National Convention on Biden's behalf next month, according to a person with direct knowledge of the plans who insisted on anonymity to discuss strategy. Kasich is among a handful of high-profile Republicans likely to become more active in supporting Biden in the fall.

No real effective way to do that. One can’t do something like bell book & candle or the “Branded (TV Western) scene” to get him out. Anyone can call themselves a Republican and register as such. For example David Duke was registered GOP at one time. The only thing that can happen is the RNC not invite him to the convention. However if the Ohio GOP sends him as a delegate he would likely be allowed in, it would be bad PR to deny his credentials.
Wait a minute. Where does he substantively differ from Trump on immigration?
In 1993, Kasich co-sponsored a bill to end birthright citizenship. As recently as the 2016 campaign, Kasich was in favor of building the wall, opposed to a path to citizenship for illegals, and in favor of deporting illegals who commit crimes. Kasich was opposed to deporting all illegal immigrants who are already here, but I'm pretty sure Trump has never actually said he would do that.
As for trade, Kasich has certainly been more pro-free trade than Trump. Except when it comes to protectionism for Ohio industries when he is running for office in Ohio, then he's fine with things like steel tariffs.
Choosing Biden who supports nothing establishment Republicans are for other than amnesty and ignoring Biden's obvious cognitive issues, decades of lies, his horrible record means Kasich is another one, like Romney, confusing personal dislike for Trump with what's best for the nation and his alleged political values.
I don't know how influential he is in his home state so we can't assume this won't sway some voters.
That he can endorse a Democrat, at a time when many Democrats are overtly Marxist, and are saying that they want to end America as we know it, tells you everything you need to know about who Kasich is. He has no principles, no honor, and is just another typical self-serving politician without scruples.

Well, I like his honesty, though it is decades late.
He has always been a far-left Democrat.
Hopefully this will be a lesson for the future, that conservatives will stop defending moderates in Congress who continually move us to the left.
